How To Use A Buttonless Vape Pen: A Full Guide For Beginners

By Christopher Horton | August 28 2020

The Buttonless Vape Pen is still very popular. Vapes come in all shapes and sizes and most people prefer one style over another. It is easy to get overwhelmed with all of the choices out there. Learn all you need to know about the different kinds of Buttonless Vape Pens and Mods!

What Are Buttonless Vape Pens?

A buttonless vape pen means that there are no external controls on the device that you use to “fire” the vape. In the vape world, many people prefer the buttonless style over traditional box mod vape devices, as it mimics the same way you smoke a cigarette. This is due to an “auto-draw” function that activates the devices when you take a pull. By far, the easiest way to start vaping is with a buttonless style vape.

But which one is the best for your specific application? The choices may seem overwhelming at a first glance. In this article we break down the many different types of buttonless vape pens and how to use them properly.

Different Types Of The Buttonless Vape Pen

Vapes can come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and styles. They can be used for just about any application:

  • Cartridge Based Pens/ 510 Universal
  • Nicotine Vaporizers/JUUL, Vuse, MyBlu
  • Disposable Vape Pens

As you see, vape pens can be used for multiple purposes. In most cases you can use the same buttonless vape pen for most of your tasks. Lets take a look at the different types of buttonless vape pens and how you can be on your way to using one in no time:

Universal 510 Buttonless Vape Pen

How To Use A Buttonless Vape Pen: A Full Guide For Beginners

The 510/Universal buttonless vape pen is the star of the show! These small, pen-style vapes have been popular for years, and for very good reason. You can find these vape pens at just about any smoke shop or vape store.

We call these types of vape pens “510” or “universal” vape pens because the will work with almost any type of cartridge. All you have to do is screw a new cartridge on the device and start vaping.

A regular 510/universal vape pen can be used with:

  • THC concentrate cartridges
  • CBD cartridges
  • Replaceable nicotine carts/Cartomizers
  • Dry Herb specialty cartridges

My personal favorite when it comes to 510/universal style vape pens is O2 Vapes. They have a good selection of buttonless vape pens for a fair price. However, there are many brands that make essentially the same type of device.

Depending on the manufacturer, your vape pen may have adjustable voltage from 3.2 volts to 4.2 volts. Each time you buy a cartridge, make sure to check the packaging for the recommended voltage. I like to start very low, and move the power up as I vape, making sure I get the optimal hit.

It’s easy to see why these are still the most popular vape pen! The “cartridge” is multi purpose and can be used with many different types of concentrates. Because these are so easy to use, most THC/CBD cartridges that you find at vape shops are compatible with your 510 Buttonless Vape Pen. Cartridges may vary in size, but most look exactly like the picture below:

Cartridge Styles For Your 510/Universal Vape Pen

Yes, there are many different styles of cartridges for your vape pen. There are the pre-filled ones that are mentioned above. These pre-filled cartridges are the easiest to use for beginners.

Maybe you are a more advanced vaper and you know exactly what you want to use your vape pen for? The you can also get specific cartridges that come empty, and you fill them yourself. These come in a few different options:

  • Coil/mesh: These are for nicotine based concentrate
  • Quartz: These are great for CBD/THC concentrate
  • Ceramic: These are perfect for dry material/herb/wax

Whatever your need, there is an easy option for you to choose. Empty cartridges are usually very inexpensive and they are a great way to save money once you “get the hang” of vaping. I personally use ceramic cartridges for dry herb/CBD wax.

Buttonless Vape Pen For Nicotine

The most popular buttonless style vape pen without a doubt is JUUL. These can be found in most gas stations/vape shops and work with the same “auto-draw” technology as the universal 510 vape pens. These are popular because they are so easy to use. Just insert the cartridge and vape!

Disposable Buttonless Vape Pen

Lately disposable vape pens have become very popular with CBD companies. These are ready to use right out of the box and usually last for about 300 puffs. This means that you never have to replace the cartridge or charge the battery!

Many companies make these easy-to-use disposable pens in varying different strengths. The biggest appeal of a disposable vape pen is you can try it out, without buying any accessories or hardware. Disposables are fast, easy, and simple to use for anyone.

What Are Vape Mods: An Expert’s Guide (Beginner Friendly)

By vapebeat | July 08 2020

Want to find out more about vape mods? You’re in the right place. In this guide, we’ll detail all the different kinds of vape mods and what they’re used for…

What is a Vape Mod? A Quick Definition…

Traditional ecigs are small, pen-style devices. They do not have any controls and you cannot control any aspects of how it outputs power. A vape mod, on the other hand, is a much larger and more complex device. With a vape mod, you can control a myriad of settings associated with vapor production – from things like the wattage output to temperature control.
What Are Vape Mods: An Expert’s Guide (Beginner Friendly)

If you want a modern analogy: an ecig is like an old mobile phone, like the Nokia 3310 from back in the day, whereas a modern vape mod is more like an iPhone – it has way more features and a raft of technology inside it.

The main point here, however, is this: vape mods are bigger than pen-style ecigs, give you more control, and feature things like a display and buttons to adjust power and settings inside the device.

How Vape Mods Came To Be – A Brief History…

Vaporizers have been around in one form or another going all the way back to the 1960s when the first ecig was invented. Over the years, however, the technology has changed massively, adding in things like system processors and things like temperature control and other vaping modes.

All vaporizer devices have a few things in common, however. All vape mods (and ecigs) have a battery. This battery can be internally mounted or external, as is the case with most modern vape mods that use 18650 batteries (mostly). The OG vapers back in the day began making the first vape mods using torches; they’d hack the torch in order to send current to a tank attached to it – this is basically how everything got started.

vaporesso-gen-mod

The term “mod” comes from the fact that these vape devices have been modified for different uses and run a range of different vaping modes. Back in the day, however, nearly all vape mods were completely unregulated – these types of vape mods are still around and they’re known as mech mods (or mechanical mods). And they’re not designed for beginner vapers.

In and around 2015, vape mods started getting very clever. Like smartphones, vape mods are constantly evolving, adding new technology and abilities.

Most advances are geared towards safety, though you do get some crazy innovation once in a while. SMOK, for instance, released a vape mod with a voice assistant inside it.

Mostly though updates to vape mods focus on performance, the accuracy of power delivery, and new vaping modes – things like Bypass Mode, for instance.

Benefits of Vape Mods

Why do people use vape mods? Simple: there is a raft of benefits associated with vape mods over, say, smaller, traditional ecig-style vape devices. Here’s a list of some of the reasons why people use vape mods:

  • Power – Modern vape mods come in all shapes and sizes, but most will output up to at least 100W. Nearly all of the vape mods you’ll come across online will have the potential to hit 220W. They will also feature things like programmable power curves, Bypass Mode, and temperature control. Why do you need that much power? If you’re running a sub-ohm tank or an RDA with low resistance, you’ll need a lot of power to run the tank.
  • Control – With a vape mod, you have way more control over your vaping experience. You can turn up the power or turn it down. This will affect how your tank vapes. And because you have complete control over the power, the volts, and the wattage, you can run a myriad of different tanks on one vape mod. All you have to do is remove one tank, add another, and then adjust the settings accordingly. Use a DNA-powered mod and you can assign profiles to each of your tank, so as soon as it is installed, the mod will recognise it and adjust all the settings for you automatically.
  • Battery Life – The vast majority of vape mods run on 18650 batteries, usually two of them. These batteries are extremely powerful and, when combined with a good vape mod, will provide you with up to two days’ of battery life. And this is one of the key reasons why must vapers use vape mods. Think about it: a vape mod will deliver two days of battery life, whereas a device like the JUUL will last maybe 2-3 hours.
  • Different Styles of Vaping – Vape mods support different vape modes, so you can move between things like POWER (vaping in wattage, the most common) to temperature control, to things like Bypass Mode. Having this amount of choice allows users to get more mileage and satisfaction, which brings me to my next point…
  • Ability To Run Multiple Tanks – Once you have a vape mod, you can run RDAs, RTAs, MTL tanks, and sub-ohm tanks on it. The choice is yours. Most seasoned vapers have big selections of tanks, tanks for different days of the week, or different settings. I use RDAs when I want flavor and MTL tanks for when I’m out and about, for instance, and I can do this because I use vape mods.
  • Durability – Vape mods are usually pretty big. Not massive, but definitely bigger than your average ecig or pod mod vape. Modern design language has made vape mods a lot more pocketable, though non-vapers often still find them hilariously oversized for what they are. Me personally? I honestly do not mind the size of any of my vape mods. It’s a tradeoff, in my mind. If you want great battery life and lots of features, you need space inside the device to accommodate all these things.
  • Vapor Quantity – Because a vape mod can output at much higher levels than a traditional ecig or pod vape, you get much more vapor (especially if you use a sub-ohm tank or an RDA or RTA). Basically, if you want big clouds, you need to be using a vape mod. Big clouds require lots of power (and a decent tank), so if that’s what you want you to need to pick yourself up a vape mod.

Different Types of Vape Mod

Box Mods, Squonk Mods & Mech Mods…

  • The Box Mod – A box mod is the most common type of vape mod; you’ll see these everywhere. They’re called box mods because, originally, they looked like metal boxes. These types of vape mods are regulated, safe, and ideal for all types of vapers – from beginners to more advanced users.
  • The Mech Mod – Mech mods (or mechanical mods) are not for new vapers; they’re completely unregulated, so you need to know what you’re doing with them. A grounding in Ohm’s Law and battery physics is a must. Do not mess around with these types of vape mod if you don’t know what you’re doing.
  • The Squonk Mod – A squonk mod is used with RDA tanks. Basically, a small bottle of vape juice is stored inside the vape mod and, when squeezed, sends juice up to the atomizer, negating the need to drip fresh juice onto the RDA’s coils, as you had to do before squonking was invented. The process of squeezing the bottle to send juice up to the atomizer inside the RDA is called squonking.

Wrapping Up….

Should you get a vape mod? Obviously, this depends on the style of vaping you want to do. Me personally? I always use vape mods. They’re safe, completely regulated, so you don’t need to worry about things like resistance and settings on your tank, and they provide the best battery life of any vape device.

If you’re new to vaping, I’d stay clear of mech mods and mechanical mods for now; they are not regulated, so if you mess up your tank’s build (meaning you do not get the coil’s resistance correct, it could cause the battery to overheat and explode, which you obviously do not want – this is why vapes explode).

innokin-mp5-box-mod

A box mod – as they’re sometimes called – is a vape mod that is designed for use by all types of vapers, from beginners to advanced users. They come packed with settings, the ability to adjust the power output, screens that display all the information you need to know about your device, and will run every kind of vape tank you can buy.

For this reason, a vape mod is an essential piece of kit for anyone that wants to get the best possible vaping experience. Convinced? Check out our guide to the best vape mods from the last 12 months and get yourself one today!

Pod Vape vs. Vape Mod: What’s The Difference?

By Jason Artman | December 23 2019

The vaping market has narrowed a bit over the past couple of years. On one side, you have the experienced vapers who are still using the same box mods and refillable tanks that they’ve used for years. On the other side, you have the newer generation of vapers who are primarily using pod vapes with pre-filled or refillable pods.

Other types of vaping devices – such as vape pens, mechanical mods, and cigalikes – simply aren’t as popular as they used to be. What should you do, then, if you’re new to vaping? Should you just follow the crowd and buy a JUUL? Not necessarily. Not only are there many, many pod systems out there, but the fact is that a pod device may not even be the right fit for you in the first place. Don’t buy your first vaping device without reading this simple guide to pod vapes vs. mods.

Inhaling Style

Vape pods – and the tanks included with most mods – have different airflow characteristics that lend themselves to different inhaling styles. Pod systems are designed for the mouth-to-lung (MTL) inhaling style that you’d use when smoking a cigarette. Most mods, on the other hand, include tanks designed to facilitate the inhalation of the vapor directly to the lungs. You don’t have to use your mod with the included tank. You can buy a mod and pair it with a mouth-to-lung tank – but that adds complexity that you probably don’t want when you’re new to vaping.

Throat Hit vs. Flavor

Almost universally, former smokers crave a strong throat hit when they first make the switch to vaping. The throat hit is the feeling that you get in the throat when you inhale nicotine. A cigarette produces a strong throat hit, and a vaping device can produce virtually the same sensation if it’s designed for mouth-to-lung inhaling and filled with a strong nicotine salt e-liquid. That’s the type of experience that you’ll have with a pod system. When you use a high-nicotine e-liquid, though, the nicotine provides much of the flavor.

A mod, on the other hand, is set up to provide the best possible experience with a lower-nicotine e-liquid. Since the vapor production of a mod is much greater than that of a pod system, you’ll absorb around the same amount of nicotine with either type of device. With a lower-nicotine e-liquid, though, you’ll taste the flavor of the e-liquid itself much more prominently and will not really taste or feel the nicotine.

Convenience vs. Flexibility

Nothing in the world of vaping is more convenient or easier to use than a closed pod system. Just charge the battery, drop in a pod and enjoy. You don’t even need to think about tweaking your device. You don’t need to wonder whether the tank you’re using is really providing the best possible experience. A pod system only works with its own pods, and those pods are already set up to provide a great experience.

On the other hand, the fact that a closed pod system only works with its own pods also means that a typical pod system doesn’t have many different flavors available. You might love those flavors so much that you never want to experiment with anything else. If you’re the type who wants to try everything, though, a mod can work with any bottled e-liquid on the market.

Refillable pod systems do exist, and those systems bridge the gap between pod vapes vs. mods. They usually work best, however, with high-strength nicotine salt e-liquids.

Cloud Chasing vs. Discreet Vaping

Some mods have pretty crazy cloud production. A big rip from a high-end mod can just about fill a room. There is almost no way, in other words, to vape discreetly with a mod. Many mod users don’t care about that; they’ll happily create their own personal weather systems wherever they go. Other people, though, don’t like to call attention to themselves when they vape. They’d rather vape privately, and they’re concerned that people might find enormous clouds obnoxious. If you fall into that category, you’ll probably be happiest with a pod system. Pod systems may also be better for indoor vaping because the clouds that they produce dissipate quickly instead of lingering in the air.

Initial Investment vs. Long-Term Cost

With starter kit prices that seldom exceed $30, pod systems are typically some of the least expensive vaping devices that you can buy. If you want to buy a mod that includes a tank, on the other hand, you should expect to spend at least $50 – plus an extra investment of $35 or so for batteries and e-liquid. So, if you want to start vaping today, you’ll definitely get out of the vape shop a lot more cheaply if you buy a pod system.

Closed pod systems, however, use the classic razor-and-blades business model. You’ll only pay a little for the device, but you’ll pay a lot for the pods. The bottled e-liquid that you’ll use with a mod, on the other hand, costs much less per ml of juice than packs of pre-filled pods. Mods tend to cost less than pod systems over the long term.

Keep in mind, though, that using a high-output mod does diminish your savings somewhat. The more vapor your device produces, the more often you’ll need to buy e-liquid. If you use sweetened e-liquid, your coils won’t last long – so if you really want to vape as cheaply as possible, you should avoid using vape juice that contains sucralose.

Easy Storage vs. Long Battery Life

There is an enormous difference in battery capacity between pod vapes and mods. While a typical pod system has a battery capacity no greater than about 300 mAh, a dual-battery mod may boast 5,000 mAh of battery life or more. The difference is mitigated somewhat by the fact that people typically use mods at higher wattages than pod systems, but you’ll definitely enjoy longer vaping times with a mod than you would with a pod system.

On the other hand, though, there’s no such thing as a device with 5,000 mAh of battery capacity that’s fun to carry in your pocket. A pod system can fit just about anywhere and is far more pleasant to carry. Either way, we have guides that’ll show you the best device in each category – check them out below!

VooPoo X217 Detailed In Full – Design, Specs, Performance & Battery Life

Best 20700 Vape Mod

Design

When it comes to good looks, VooPoo really knows what it’s doing when it comes to designing vape mods. The Drag Resin was gorgeous, and the VooPoo X217 is no exception either – it feels beautifully premium in the hand, thanks to its exquisite build materials and choice of contrasting metals, leather, and LEDs.

The finished package looks like a $200 mod, something YiHi might make. But it isn’t; the VooPoo X217 retails for just $57.99 – and that really is incredible value for money whichever way you slice it. The 1.3in TFT display is stunning too, detailing everything that is going on inside your mod and tank. It feels like nothing has been left off the table with this mod.

Best 20700 Vape Mod

On the subject of YiHi mods, the VooPoo X217 does kind of remind me of a more futuristic-looking SX Mini G-Class. It cuts a similar figure, just with more existing design language. The fire key is located at the top of the device, just above the display, and is ideally placed for my style of vaping. I also really like the soft-touch (faux) leather accents on the side.

The 20700 batteries go in the bottom of the device, again, very much like how they do on the SX Mini G Class. Once inside, they’re held fast in place by a secure locking mechanism. The VooPoo X217 will also run 18650 cells too, so you don’t always have to run 20700 batteries, though you’ll want to because they provide additional battery life.

VooPoo X217 Specs & Features

  • 93mm by 50.6mm by 33mm
  • Gene.FAN Chip
  • Variable Wattage Output
  • Temperature Control
  • Five User-Defined Output Modes
  • Three Button Control Face
  • 1.3 Inch TFT IPS HD Display
  • “U” Shaped Breathing LED Strip
  • Zinc Alloy and Carbon Fiber Construction
  • Spring Loaded Gold Plated 510 Connection

As you can see, the VooPoo X217 packs in a ton of features. My favorite, however, is the ability to set up to five profiles. Using this feature, you can set a profile for your RDA, your vape tank, and your MTL vape tank. It saves time and it works great. Just like a DNA mod, only here it’s about $100 cheaper.

For this price point, VooPoo has really over-delivered with respect to features and build quality. As noted earlier, the VooPoo X217 looks like a $150-$200 vape mod. The materials used, the specs, the built-in features; everything looks, performs and feels like it should cost a lot more. And if you’re a fan of value for money, it doesn’t really get any better than this…

VooPoo X217 Performance

VooPoo mods, thanks to the company’s GENE chip, have been kicking ass for years now, bringing immense power and near-instantaneous firing to millions of vapers the globe-over. This is why the Drag was so popular. It put VooPoo on the map. Big time.

Since then, things have progressed, and VooPoo has doubled down on its design language and styling. The VooPoo X217 is the end result of this. You have a mod that wouldn’t look out of place alongside top of the line DNA and YiHi mods. And that is impressive. Even more so when you factor in just how little this vape mod retails for.

You have tons of power (217W), a full temperature control suite, and a myriad of safety features that’ll ensure you’re always vaping safely. Chuck in things like memory modes and the “breathing” LED on the front, a gorgeous TFT display, and you’re in a very good place indeed. In fact, I can’t believe there hasn’t been more hype around this mod; it is vastly superior to the VooPoo Drag 2 in pretty much every way.

And that should tell you everything you need to know about how the VooPoo X217 performs.

VooPoo X217 Battery Life – The Main Event

Besides good looks and epic design, the VooPoo X217 has one more trick up its sleeve: exceptional battery life. This is made possible by its dual-20700 batteries, which bring around 20-30% more battery life than their 18650 counterparts, meaning you charge them less and vape for longer.

If you run high power RDAs and vape tanks, you NEED a vape mod that can go the distance. Normally, I’d recommend a triple 18650 vape mod, but the rise of 20700 vape mods kind of makes them redundant. The VooPoo X217’s battery life is incredible and this makes it an ideal choice for power vapers.

VooPoo X217

The VooPoo X217 Will Run 18650, 20700, and 21700 Batteries – The Choice is Yours. Check Out All The Color Options For The Mod Here.

Fully charged, you’ll get through a full day of vaping up and around the 100W mark without the mod breaking a sweat. And because of the design of the mod, you can easily run 30mm RDAs and vape tanks on it. If you’re feeling underwhelmed by your dual-18650 vape mod, perhaps it’s time you upped the ante and switched to a dual 20700 box mod?

Why You’d Buy The VooPoo X217

  • Great Design
  • Immense Battery Life
  • Gorgeous TFT Display
  • Masses of Power (217W)
  • Ability To Run Large, 30mm Tanks
  • GENE.FAN Chip is Brilliant
  • You Want A $200 Mod, But Can’t Afford One

Bottomline? For the asking price, around $57.99, the VooPoo X217 serves up unbelievable value for money. I own the SX Mini G Class, it’s a beast, but the VooPoo X217 looks and feels better in the hand – and it’s $100 cheaper!

For me, this is perhaps one of the best vape mods we’ve seen all year. If you like power, premium design, and immense battery life, you need to be picking up one of these. Like, right now!

Other Good 20700 / 217000 Mods Worth A Look…

The VooPoo X2017 isn’t the only game in town, it’s just my current favorite. But you do have other options, and they are as follows:

#1 – Vaporesso Armour Pro (Ideal For MTL Tanks)

Vaporesso Armour Pro

The Beautiful Vaporesso Armour Pro is Great For Low-Power MTL Tanks. It’s A Single Cell Device That is Perfectly Executed. The OMNI Board Chip Inside It Provides Excellent Performance & Safety Features. If You MTL Vape, This Mod Comes Highly Recommended!

If you’re into MTL vaping, the Vaporesso Armour Pro comes highly recommended. This svelte, beautifully designed vape mod is ideal for vapers that run MTL tanks at low wattages. Anything around the 20-30W mark.

It’s a single-cell vape mod (it’ll run 21700 / 20700 / 18650 batteries), so it isn’t designed for high-power vaping. You can do it, of course, but you’ll drain the batteries in record time.

Inside you have Vaporesso’s impressive OMNI Board chip powering everything, and like VooPoo’s GENE chipset, it is mightily impressive, packing in a myriad of vaping modes and safety features. I love this mod, but you HAVE to use it with low-power MTL tanks to get the most from it.

Rocking a high-power RDA or sub-ohm tank will drain the battery too fast. As an MTL vape mod, however, it is brilliant. Well worth a look, if you got any MTL tanks in your collection.

#2 – Aspire PUXOS (Unique Design, Solid Performer)

Aspire PUXOS

Stylish? Yes. Unique? Yes. Comes With A Great Mesh Coil Tank? Yes. The Aspire PUXOS is a Brilliant Performer That Runs Dual-21700, 20700, or 18650 Cells. It’s Priced Great & It Looks Freakin’ Awesome. Great Stuff Across The Board, Basically

I don’t have much to do with Aspire stuff these days, but the Aspire PUXOS made this list because it is A) relatively cheap, B) a decent vape mod, and C) looks decent with its unique, resin finishes on the front on back of the mod.

Like the other mods on this list, it’ll run dual-18650/20700/21700 batteries. It is also fairly compact too. Beyond this, the mod features a stunning 0.96 OLED display and packs in plenty of performance – both in power and temperature control modes.

It also comes with a very decent tank as well; the Aspire Cleito Pro, which is a mesh coil sub ohm tank that kicks out plenty of flavor. If you’re after a vape mod kit that can run 21700 or 20700 batteries, the impressive-performing Aspire PUXOS is very much worth a look.

I’ll add more mods to this list as I try them. For now, my recommendations, based on all of the above, are as follows:

  • Best Option Overall: VooPoo X2017
  • 2nd Best Option: Aspire PUXOS
  • Best MTL Option: Vaporesso Armour Pro

The Most Beautiful Vape Mod Designs You’ve Ever Seen…

By Drake Equation | April 11 2019

A longish blog on the most beautiful vape mod designs around right now. Plus, some points on design language in general, and why so many vape brands get it so wrong!

Design. It’s a really interesting topic, especially if you dig a little deeper in the philosophy of how things are made.

For instance, did you know that the Apple logo was designed with the Fibonacci sequence in mind?

Ditto the iPod, iPhone, and iPad.

>>>Click Here To Skip Intro & Get Straight To The Mods!

most beautiful vape mods

“The apple shape changed slightly from my original design in the early 80’s. The design firm Landor & Associates made the changes. They brightened the colors, they made the shapes much more symmetrical, much more geometric. When I designed it I pretty much did it freehand” – Rob Janoff (The Guy Who Designed The Logo)

Apple’s classic design language appeals to a wide array of audiences not because it is shiny and new, though this helps, but because it adheres to the universal language of mathematics.

Things flow and align correctly. Shapes sit together uniformly. The overall product has flow – a flow that transcends throughout it.

And this pleases our subconscious mind.

Design isn’t just drawing something and then making it; there is a lot more to consider when you’re talking about industrial design and engineering – it is essentially a form of modern-day alchemy.

OK, So What Does This Have To Do With Vape Mods?

Everything.

A vape mod, like an iPhone, is a consumer product.

It’s designed to attract glances, whether on the street or when it’s sat on a shelf inside a vape shop.

Dull, lifeless, forgettable products go unnoticed. Or get passed over for more interesting devices. And this is bad for business.

Just ask Microsoft.

It struggled with this for years with its failed Windows Phone experiment. The products looked rubbish and no one cared.

And then you have social media which is all about imagery and looks.

Instagram and Facebook are how vape products get exposure these days because traditional forms of advertising are now allowed.

On these platforms, design (or looking cool) is the #1 concern.

But SO MANY Vape Brands Get It All Wrong…

The Most Beautiful Vape Mod Designs You've Ever Seen...

[social_warfare]

I’ve tested a lot of vape mods during the past couple of years and the truly beautiful ones are very few and far between.

In fact, they’re rarer than hen’s teeth.

Brands like SMOK are more concerned with stupid gimmicks like AI and voice activation than actual design language and quality control.

They pump out mod after mod, never really thinking about why?

And when the supply of these devices exceeds aspiration, you’re in a bad place.

Nothing good ever comes from being in this place. Not when the money dries up.

SMOK Alien problems

The SMOK Alien – AKA One of The World’s Most Hated Vape Mods

SMOK has built itself one of the worst reputations of ALL the vape brands during the past couple of years.

And it did it by chasing dollars, not usability.

That’s why Reddit is chuck-full of irate vapers that feel ripped off by them.

You do have plenty of brands in the mech mod space that are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with machining and design.

But mech mods aren’t mainstream like traditional vape mods.

Most vapers will never use these types of devices.

Rig Mod is easily one of my all-time favorite vape product designers; it makes absolutely stunning mech mods and RDAs.

The Most Beautiful Vape Mod Designs You've Ever Seen...

Rig Mod’s Mech Mods – There Are Hundreds of Options As Well…

The mechs and tanks it produces are unlike anything else. They even did a collaboration with Wotofo for the FLUX Kit (and it rocked!).

Rig Mod’s approach to design, machining, and pretty much everything else is always executed perfectly.

Its mechs and RDAs, as you can see in the image above, are flawless and supremely eye-catching.

So What’s The Most Beautiful “Mainstream” Vape Mod Then?

When I say, mainstream, I don’t mean, “mainstream” like Wismec or SMOK mods – I’m talking about usability.

I’m talking about mods that are easy to use and can be handled by first-time vapers with ease.

A company I have been following very closely on Instagram for a couple of years now is dotmod – a US mod and tank designer.

They make utterly gorgeous hardware, hardware that makes you want to reach through the screen of your phone and grab it!

The Stunning dotmod dotbox in Teal

Why is this?

I honestly don’t know – there is just something so organic and appealing about how dotmod designs its products.

And it doesn’t matter whether you’re talking about its vape mods or its RDTAs or RDA tanks.

They all follow the same design language; you know it is a dotmod product before you even see the logo.

And that is how you do design!

You make your design language your brand so that when people see your product they know it is you.

How many other vape companies do this?

Save for Rig Mod, I actually cannot think of any off the top of my head…

Why I Love dotmod Vape Mods (And Tanks)

quit smoking

The dotmod dotbox – Such A Handsome Mod

Mainly because of the attention to detail that goes into making them.

Every inch of the product has been painstakingly planned, evolved, and then implemented.

I adore its branding. The logo is probably one of the best in the entire industry.

And I like how it designs its mods to not only look good but also function in a useful manner.

It doesn’t do gimmicks. Just useful stuff that users appreciate.

For instance, if you don’t use the dotmod dotbox for a prolonged period of time, it will automatically turn itself off.

This stops it firing in your pocket by accident.

Another cool feature? The power rockers are made from 24 karat gold.

Another? Its microprocessor features quick charging (for 18650s) and will fire consistently and potently without delay.

Chuck in excellent TC accuracy, a chassis made entirely from anodized custom aluminum, as well as multiple color options, and you’re looking at one of the best-looking setups ever created.

But dotmod Gear Is Definitely Not For Everyone…

The Most Beautiful Vape Mod Designs You've Ever Seen...

The Way dotmod Does Things Is Just So Satisfying… I Mean Just Look At The dotbox mod! You Literally Want To Reach Out And Grab It!

[social_warfare]

And the main reason for this is the price – dotmod gear is expensive (like three-figures expensive).

If you’re on a budget, a dotmod vape mod and tank are luxury items – like flying in first class.

And like any luxury, you’d love to do it, experience it first hand, but it just costs too much for most people.

And this sucks.

But this is just a fact of life. When something is made with this level of detail in mind, it’s always going to come at a premium.

Having said that, if you’re like a lot of vapers and are sick of buying cheap Chinese mods that break after a few months, the idea of spending more on something that will actually last you 12, 24, or 36 months becomes rather appealing.

This is why a lot of vapers love Lost Vape and SX MINI; the mods are expensive, yes, but they work phenomenally and they will last you as long as you care to run them.

My grandad always used to say, “if you buy cheap, you buy twice”.

And he’s right: if you choose an inferior product just because it is cheaper it will end up costing you more money because it will break and you will have to replace it again and again.

Most Beautiful Vape Mods

The Beautifully Poised dotrda 22mm Single Coil RDA ($49.95)

If you haven’t heard of dotmod before, you should definitely check them out.

Even if it’s just to see more of its beautiful, flowing design language in action!

If you’re into high-end vape mods and RDAs, dotmod has carved out a lovely little niche for itself in the vape market.

It does its own thing in its own way. Like Rig Mod. And I have mad-respect for this.

I just wish more vape brands would do the same!

This is why dotmod is featured inside our Free Report on The Best Vape Brands In Operation Right Now.

And SMOK isn’t…

Best Vape Mod With Internal Battery (My #1 Picks For 2020)

By Drake Equation | March 25 2019

If you don’t like messing around with external 18650 batteries, no bother! These vape mods all run on internal batteries – and they are all really freakin’ good too!

Best Vape Mod With Internal Battery

#1 – The VooPoo Drag Mini (Read Review)

VooPoo Drag Mini

CHECK PRICES!

The VooPoo Drag Mini is a great little vape mod. It has a large 4400mAh battery, the biggest of all three mods mentioned in this post.

It also looks stunning with its gorgeous resin accents. Under the hood, you have the mighty GENE chip that delivers a maximum of 117W and features a full TC suite.

If you want a solid, robust, and truly powerful vape mod with an internal battery, this is my current favorite right now. The UFORCE tank it comes with – a mesh coil setup – is also very good too.

All in all, a solid vape mod with killer battery life.

#2 – GeekVape AEGIS Mini (Read Review)

GeekVape AEGIS Mini

The Dinky + Super-Potent AEGIS Mini

CHECK PRICES!

The GeekVape AEGIS Mini is teeny tiny, and this makes it ideal for anyone that is looking for a smaller vape mod.

The mod itself is water and dust-proof and it features a myriad of features from TC vaping modes to curves and, of course, power mode.

Ideal for use with a single coil RTA or an MTL tank, the AGEIS Mini is brilliant in certain contexts.

It’s not ideal for low resistance sub ohm tanks, but if you’re rocking a 0.4ohm coil you should be fine.

The mod is available in tons of color options too. I do really love this lil fella too; it’s just so portable and easy to use. Plus with 80W of power, you have more than enough for most tanks.

#3 – Eleaf NOWOS (Read Review)

Best Vape Mod With Internal Battery (My #1 Picks For 2020)

CHECK PRICES!

The Eleaf NOWOS is a unique little number from Eleaf; it’s super unique-looking and it features a truly novel display – the buttons are hidden in it until you triple click the fire key.

You have a max output of 80W, and it comes with a seriously good mesh coil tank. The overall design and finish are superb here.

Add in the fact it runs on USB Type C and has Quick Charge (it’ll go from dead to full in 40 minutes) and you’re in a very good place.

I use and abuse all of these mods, but I tend to use this one more simply because it has Quick Charge and will charge up from dead to full in about 40 minutes. Ideal!

Benefits of Internal Battery Vape Mods

If you don’t want to be messing around with large external vape batteries and chargers, you’re going to need a vape mod with an internal battery.

As always, there are pros and cons to this style of vape mod, which is why most mods inside our Best Vape Mod Guide run removable cells.

The pros of using this style of vape mod are as follows:

  • Simplicity
  • Less cost (vape batteries aren’t cheap)
  • Ease of use

And for cons? Well, battery life isn’t quite as good as it is on a mod with dual (or triple) 18650 cells.

But that’s kind of a given.

I have three vape mods (with internal batteries) that I use pretty much all the time. I like all of them and they’re all solid performers.

They’re all slightly different too; one is premium and powerful, the other is small and portable, and the other is very cost effective.

Basically, it’s a nice spread of options!

Things To Keep In Mind (How To Get Maximum Battery Life)

If you’re running a mod with an internal battery, you definitely do not want to be running a super-low-resistance coil at high wattages.

Why’s that? Because it will KILL your battery life in quick fashion.

Ideally, you want a sub ohm coil that has a relatively light resistance 0.4ohms is great.

This way, you can run the tank in and around 50-55W, and get plenty of vapor and flavor, without taxing your battery life too hard.

The GeekVape AMMIT MTL RTA – A Proper Good Single Coil RTA Tank

Another option is to run a single coil MTL RTA on it – these are my current favorite single coil MTL RTA tanks right now.

A single coil MTL RTA runs super-low, so you can get days of battery life from your battery life. Even on mods with single or small internal batteries.

The don’t draw like a normal vape tank either; they’re designed to pull like a cigarette.

This is why they’re very popular with new vapers and people like me that enjoy the sensation.

How To Pick The Best Internal Battery Vape Mod

As I said: the three mentioned at the top of the post are what I’m using right now.

But there are tons of other options, including DNA mods which are great if you want to do temperature control vaping.

Regularly readers will know that I only ever recommend gear that I use, and the three mods mentioned at the beginning are all very good setups.

They all have decent battery life, plenty of power, and are packed with awesome features.

My personal favorite is a toss-up between the VooPoo Drag Mini and the GeekVape AEGIS Mini.

The AEGIS Mini is great for MTL tanks, while the Drag Mini is great for RDAs and high power vape tanks.

I just prefer the look and feel of them, though the Eleaf NOWOS is very good too – and it comes with a very impressive mesh coil tank.

As with most things, whichever mod you go for will depend on personal preference.

Taste is subjective and you may prefer the look of the NOWOS over the DRAG Mini, and that’s perfectly fine.

The key takeaway here is simple: I’ve tested and used all three of these mods for months on end, and they’re all super-solid performers.

I do enjoy some more than others, but I would happily recommend any of these three mods to readers and friends that are looking for a reliable, good-looking vape mod with internal battery cells.
