Freemax makes some of the best sub-ohm tanks in the business. Period. But what about when it tries its hands at a vape mod?
This is the first time I have tested a full kit by Freemax, and I’m pleased to say it isn’t a pod vape or a disposable FOR ONCE!
What we’re looking at today is the Freemax Maxus 2 vape kit and it is a high-power, performance-focussed sub ohm tank and vape mod kit.
You know, the kind of vape we all used to love and lust after before we were seduced en masse by smaller, compact pod vapes and disposables.
In this review, we’ll take a detailed look at the Freemax Maxus 2 vape kit, its features, how it performs, and find out whether it is worth a buy in 2023
Let’s do this…
Freemax Maxus 2 200W Review
Design and Build Quality
The Maxus 2 200W mod and the M Pro 3 tank are designed with performance in mind. Freemax knows you’ll want to run freebase, High VG juice in it and it knows you’ll want to do it at high wattages.
The Freemax Maxus 2 vape kit has 200W of power under the hood which is more than enough for even the most hardcore of cloud chasers.
The mod itself looks, well… bloody amazing. I was blown away by its design finesse when I unboxed it, so, yeah… hats off to Freemax’s designers. It looks bloody stunning.
The firing button is optimally placed for ease of access and the adjustment buttons are intuitive and responsive.
The sliding top cap open the tank and hinged battery door make refilling and battery replacement quick and easy too, so, again, no complaints here.
It’s also available in several colors too: black, blue, rainbow, and gun metal.
The mod is made of high-quality zinc-alloy material and is ergonomically designed for comfortable use. Its also fairly compact for a vape mod too, despite the fact it runs 2x 18650 batteries.
If you’re a fan of outstanding design or like your mods to look a little different from the run of the mill designs, the Freemax Maxus 2 is well worth a look.
And if that wasn’t enough to whet your whistle, it also comes with a brilliant sub-ohm tank in the form of the Freemax M Pro 3. This tank will hold 5ml of vape juice and it runs on Freemax’s legendary M1-D and 904L M2 Mesh Coils.
Performance
The kit offers a wide range of features and customization options, with a wattage range of 5-200W and temperature range of 100°C to 315°C (200°F to 600°F).
You also get three power levels (soft, normal, and hard) and, unlike most modern vape mods, it also supports temperature control vaping too, so if that’s you thing, this vape mod will be right up your street.
I’ve run about 120ML through this kit since I’ve had it and, honestly, it hasn’t missed a beat. The performance is consistent and reliable. It hits hard and fast, just as you’d expect from a higher-end mod like this.
Is it easy to use? Very.
Even if you’re a total beginner, you won’t have any problems running the Maxus 2. Here’s some quick pointers on how to use the Maxus 2’s main settings.
To turn it on/off, click the fire button 5 times quickly. Once the mod is on, you can switch between the power levels (soft, normal, and hard) by clicking the “+” and “-” buttons.
To switch to temperature control mode, press the fire button three times in quick succession. Then, you can adjust the temperature setting using the “+” and “-” buttons.
To enter the bypass mode, you need to click the fire button five times rapidly and then hold the “+” button for three seconds.
This mode allows the mod to operate like a mechanical mod without any adjustments to the wattage or voltage.
The Maxus 2 also features a 1.06″ TFT screen that displays all the necessary information you’ll need – things like wattage/temperature, coil resistance, battery life, and puff timer.
The UX is well designed too. I found it fairly intuitive and user-friendly; I didn’t have any issues finding my way through its settings and applying specific modes.
Safety Features
Freemax Maxus 2 vape kit comes with a range of safety features, as you’d expect, including low resistance protection, short circuit protection, open circuit protection, 10s overtime protection, high-temp protection, and low voltage protection.
This effectively makes it an idiot-proof vape mod. So long as you’re not messing around in Bypass Mode and being a complete idiot, you won’t have any issues to worry about.
And even if you are messing around in Bypass Mode and don’t know what you’re doing, the mod will not let anything get out of hand, so, again, no worries in this regard either.

Freemax M Pro 3 Tank
The mod itself is great, but for most people the real star of the show will be Freemax’s M Pro 3 sub ohm tank. It is bloody fantastic.
Freemax M Pro 3 Coils
The M Pro 3 tank comes with two coils, the 0.15ohm M1-D mesh coil and the 0.2ohm 904L M2 mesh coil, and, in my time with the kit, both produced excellent flavor and vapor production.
As for which coil is the best, that’ll depend on your own personal tastes. Me? I preferred the 0.15ohm M1-D mesh coil because when I use a kit like this I like to really push it, and the 0.15ohm M1-D mesh coil, with its lower resistance, is the one designed for that type of thing.
Both are excellent, however, with ridiculously long lifespans. I got over a week and half from both of mine.
