What New Vapers Really Want
JUUL was kind of the darling of the vape market but it inevitably fell on its own sword, following its hyper-aggressive marketing through mainstream media channels like WIRED and other big name publications.
Eventually, this caught up with the brand, haunting its every move, as regulators and anti-tobacco lobbyists targeted it as the fall guy for the entire vaping industry.
Dirty deals with Big Tobacco didn’t help its case, and neither did its inflated pricing and sub-par hardware performance. JUUL always had terrible battery life too. And it was hella expensive to run with JUULpods costing 300 to 400X more than standard, open-system vapes – $15.99 for 8ml of juice? No thanks.
And this is where RELX spotted a gap in the market. If JUUL was so popular, perhaps there was an angle left to play inside the closed-system vape market?
