At VapeBeat, we don’t believe you can judge a vape by taking it out of the box, taking a few puffs, and writing a review. That’s not how real people use these products, so it’s not how we test them.

Every recommendation we make is based on real-world use. We live with products, compare them against their competitors, and judge them the same way our readers will: by using them every day.

How We Get Products

We test products in two ways.

  1. The first is by buying them ourselves through retailers, just like any other customer.
  2. The second is through review samples supplied by manufacturers or retailers. Brands send us products because they want us to consider them for review or inclusion in our buying guides.

Receiving a review sample never guarantees a positive review, a recommendation, or placement in one of our best lists.

Brands cannot pay to influence our opinions, edit our reviews before publication, or request that we remove negative comments. Every product is reviewed using exactly the same process, whether we bought it ourselves or it arrived as a review sample.

If a product performs well, we’ll say so. If it has problems, we’ll say that too.

Our Testing Process

We use every product the way a normal customer would.

Rather than testing a device for a day or two, we typically spend around four weeks using it as our primary device whenever possible.

This gives us enough time to identify issues that often don’t appear during first impressions.

During testing we evaluate things like:

  • Build quality and durability
  • Flavour quality
  • Coil or pod longevity
  • Battery life
  • Charging performance
  • Leak resistance
  • Ease of use
  • Value for money
  • Reliability over time

Most importantly, we compare every product against others in its class rather than judging it in isolation.

How We Test Pod Vapes

Pod longevity is one of the biggest indicators of overall quality.

Many manufacturers make impressive claims about coil life, but real-world performance often tells a different story.

We use pod systems continuously for around a month, monitoring:

  • How long each pod lasts before flavour drops off
  • Whether the pod leaks
  • Vapour consistency
  • Flavour over time
  • Battery performance
  • Overall reliability

A pod vape that delivers excellent flavour for four weeks without requiring a replacement pod will naturally score much higher than one that needs replacing after only two weeks.

How We Test Disposable Vapes

Disposable vape testing goes well beyond checking whether the device works.

Manufacturers often advertise devices with puff counts like 15,000, 20,000 or even 50,000 puffs. Our job is to determine whether those claims reflect real-world use.

We compare disposable vapes under similar usage conditions, looking at:

  • Battery consistency
  • Flavour throughout the device’s lifespan
  • Vapour production
  • Performance as the battery depletes
  • Whether the advertised longevity matches our experience

If two devices claim identical puff counts but one lasts noticeably longer under comparable use, that’s something we’ll report.

We Compare Products, Not Marketing Claims

A review only becomes useful when products are tested against their direct competitors.

Whenever possible, we compare devices side-by-side using the same e-liquid, similar usage patterns, and comparable conditions. This helps us separate genuine improvements from marketing hype.

That’s why you’ll often see products move up or down our rankings over time. As better devices arrive, our recommendations change too.

Our Best Lists

Our buying guides aren’t static.

We regularly revisit our recommendations as new products are released and older devices become less competitive.

A vape only appears in one of our “Best” lists if we genuinely believe it’s among the strongest options available today.

Products aren’t ranked because of affiliate commissions, advertising relationships, or manufacturer requests.

They’re ranked because our testing shows they deserve to be there.
