Can UWELL’s Crown 4 take on the likes of the Falcon Tank and the UWELL Valyrian for the best tank of 2018?
The original UWELL Crown was perhaps one of the greatest sub ohm tanks ever created.
It originally launched at a time when sub ohm tanks were, well… not all that sophisticated.
The UWELL Crown changed this, bringing immense flavor, excellent coil performance, and massive cloud production to the masses.
It was a hit. Big time.
But the follow-ups to it (The Crown 2 and Crown 3) weren’t all that good.
They were OK, but they lacked the finesse of many of their peers.
So… How does the UWELL Crown 4 do?
UWELL Crown 4 Design
The UWELL Crown 4 is a very good-looking tank. It’s solid and robust. On top of this, the tank will hold a whopping 6ml of E Juice too.
This is good. Very good. Unless you’re in the UK, then you’re going to have to use a TPD-compliant version which will limit it to 2ml.
UWELL’s kept the Pull N’ Plug coil system from previous Crown iterations and this ensures coils are easy to install and remove.
It’s a cool feature. I actually wish more tank makers would adopt it.
You know that annoying condensation you get at the bottom of your tank, where the coil head attaches? Well, UWELL’s figured out a way of getting rid of that….
And it actually works, meaning ZERO condensation on your mod or in the base of the tank (where it connects to the mod).
Beyond this, the tank features some brand new coil heads (no mesh ones, though, bizarrely) that are designed for mega flavor and massive clouds.
Overall, the UWELL Crown 4 is a very handsome chap. It’s big and chunky and is designed very much with the user in mind.
I also really like the Pull N’ Plug coil system as well as the overall styling and finish of the tank itself.

UWELL Crown 4 Coils (What… No Mesh!?)
For some insane reason, UWELL has decided to release this tank without any mesh coils.
Why? I have no idea. I guess it’s trying to be different. Thing is… I don’t think this will impress anybody.
Or, maybe it’s because UWELL is so confident its new coil heads will perform that it has decided to double down on them instead of following the pack with mesh coils?
Either way, these are the available coil heads for the UWELL Crown 4:
- Dual SS904L: 0.2 ohms, 70 to 80W, Organic Cotton
- Dual SS904L: 0.4 ohms, 60 to 70W, Organic Cotton
- SS304 UN1: 0.25 ohms, 55 to 65W, Organic Cotton
- FeCrAl UN2: 0.23 ohms, 60 to 70W, Organic Cotton
Each coil features a bespoke, vertical coil arrangement and triple vertical wicking slots that ensures rapid wicking. This means less time messing around with priming and more time vaping.
I’d still like to have seen a mesh coil included, but the concept of these new coils head does sound very interesting. I just hope they live up to expectation in practice!
UWELL Crown 4 vs. Best of The Rest
Right now, UWELL has a TON of competition. There are so many great vape tanks around right now it is impossible to pick a de facto king of the space.
The highest-rated vape tanks we’ve tested in the past 12 months are all listed inside our Best Vape Tank Guide.
Speaking personally, I am a huge fan of the Falcon Tank and the UWELL Valyrian.
I do really like the FreeMax Mesh PRO too.
Bottomline: UWELL has a lot of stiff competition to fend off with the UWELL Crown 4.
