When it comes to ultra-compact pod vapes that don’t suck, there’s not really that many great options on the market.
Most pods are compact(ish); that’s kind of their whole deal. But going ultra-compact is another thing entirely.
Two of my go-to favorites in this particular niche of pod vapes, however, would be the Mi-Pod Pro Plus and the Vaporesso XROS 4 Nano.
Now, some people reckon these are “chick vapes” – vapes aimed squarely at female users, and there might be some truth to that.
Either way, if you’re after an ultra-compact, stylish and very competent pod vape, these are two of the best options you can buy right now.
But which is best, the Mi-Pod Pro Plus or the Vaporesso XROS 4 Nano? I own both of them, so what follows is my two cents on how they compare and contrast…
Mi-Pod Pro+ vs. Vaporesso XROS 4 Nano
Design & Build Quality
The XROS 4 Nano is a fairly unique looking vape, especially when compared to other XROS pod vapes. To my eyes, it looks more like Vaporesso’s ECO Nano series pods. But it is an XROS through and through.
It comes in a range of colorful hues, complete with a circular OLED display, and it is very small and compact. Build quality, as you’d expect, is rock solid.
By itself, the XROS 4 Nano looks pretty odd. Stack it up next to the Mi-Pod Pro+, though, and you can see where Vaporesso drew its inspiration from.
The OG Mi-Pod design is one of the most recognisable in the pod vape space; it comes in a huge range of finishes and colors (I detail them ALL here), and it is one of the smartest looking, most compact vapes on the market.
I honestly don’t know which looks best. I think the Mi-Pod has the slight edge with respect to aesthetics, owing to its myriad color and material options – there’s literally hundreds of them.

Battery Life & Charging
Battery life is a make-or-break factor, especially if you don’t want to charge mid-day.
Now, being small usually means the battery life suffers. But both the Mi-Pod Pro Plus and the XROS 4 Nano prove that this doesn’t have to be the case.
You’ll get a solid days’ worth of vaping between charges with normal usage on the Mi-Pod. Go a little harder like I do and you’ll need to top up around dinner time – only 15-20 mins and it’s good to go.
The XROS 4 Nano will do nearly an entire full day, even with heavy usage. And the reason? It runs a pretty large battery. In fact, it’s the biggest battery fitted inside Vaporesso’s current range of XROS pod vapes, including the Pro.
For overall battery performance, the XROS 4 Nano has the Mi-Pod Pro+ (and most other pod vapes) whipped.
Mi-Pod Pro+
- 950mAh battery (about 2 days of moderate use)

The XROS 4 Nano is the clear winner here. Faster charging, longer battery life, and passthrough vaping make it far superior.
Vaping Performance & Flavor
Flavor isn’t subjective, not when you’re talking about pod vapes. Vaporesso is the current king of not just flavor but also longevity; its pods last for eons compared to nearly every other brand.
Mi-Pod ain’t no slouch, though, and the Mi-Pod Pro Plus’ delivers razor-sharp flavor notes. The coils don’t last quite as long as Vaporesso’s do, but they are damn impressive – they’ll easily do 12-14 days between changes.
That’s better than GeekVape, VooPoo, UWELL, and pretty much every other player in the pod space right now.
Flavor-wise, these pods are very evenly matched. The only part where the XROS 4 Nano noses ahead is with respect to how long its pods last – they last for weeks on end, and the flavor never seems to die.
This isn’t a slant on the Mi-Pod, though – so don’t go thinking that. It kicks out some of the best flavor in the niche. It’s just that no one – and I really do mean, no one – can seem to touch Vaporesso for coil longevity at the moment.
Mi-Pod Pro+
- Uses 0.9Ω vertical dual coils
- Fixed airflow (leans toward a loose MTL or light DTL draw)
- Works best with nic salts and low-strength freebase e-liquids
- Good flavor, but less vapor production
Vaporesso XROS 4 Nano

- Mesh coils with COREX 2.0 tech (better longevity & flavor)
- Adjustable airflow slider (can switch between MTL and RDL)

- More vapor and stronger throat hit (especially with 0.4Ω and 0.6Ω pods)
Verdict?
If you’re all about simplicity and nic salts, the Mi-Pod Pro+ does the job. But if you want more control over your vaping style (MTL, RDL, or even light DTL), the XROS 4 Nano is the better choice.

I like both of these devices a lot. They’re easy on the eye, simple to use, and kick out very good flavor, when paired with the right vape juice.
The MiPod Pro+ is a style-buy, it’s the statement pod – the one you get when you want something that looks completely different and, dare I say, iconic.
The XROS 4 Nano, like its fellow XROS stablemates, is a truly brilliant setup. It has the best battery life of any XROS pod system, the pods last for weeks between changes, and it is devilishly easy to use.
For me, the Vaporesso XROS 4 Nano is the superior option in the raw performance stakes. But for visual design, uniqueness, and color / materials options, nothing comes close to what Mi-Pod is doing with its current-gen Mi-Pod Pro+ series.
