FUMi Nicotine Pouches Review: Great Fruit Flavours, Excellent Quality

I’ve been using FUMi nicotine pouches on and off for around 18 months. Generally speaking, they’re pretty damn good. The sweet fruit flavours are where they really earn their keep, especially Strawberry. But if you’re a spearmint person like me, there are better options.

My local SPAR sells FUMi, so when I’m in a pinch, I tend to pick up a tin from there.

That’s how I started using them. I wasn’t doing some massive search for a new pouch brand. They were available, I needed some pouches, and I gave them a go.

The first flavour I tried was Strawberry, previously sold as Tangy Strawberry. It made a very good first impression. Good enough that I went back and started working through more of the range.

Around 18 months later, I’ve bought plenty of tins, found a few flavours I really like, and discovered one that I’ve now tried twice and still don’t get on with.

Here’s my take.

My First Impression: What’s With The Brown Pouches?

FUMi nicotine pouches reviewPin

The first thing that struck me wasn’t actually the flavour. It was the pouch itself.

The Strawberry pouches came in these little brown bags, which looked different from the white pouches I was used to seeing from VELO, ALP and ZYN.

That isn’t the case across FUMi’s entire range, though. Blackcurrant, Spearmint and Freezy Mint all come in white pouches.

The Strawberry pouches also felt mostly dry. There was a little moisture there, but nothing like you’d get with a really moist pouch.

It was an odd first impression. They looked and felt different from what I was used to.

Then I put one in.

The flavour was great straight away.

That first Strawberry pouch had a sharp, immediate taste with big, sweet notes. Up to that point, I’d tried a few fruit pouches and hadn’t been particularly impressed.

FUMi got my attention because its strawberry flavour actually delivered. The way it captured those sweet strawberry notes made me think: right, I need to try a few more of these.

A quick distinction here: the brownish colour and relatively dry feel are what I noticed in the pouches I bought. That’s my experience of those tins, rather than a claim that every FUMi flavour or version looks and feels identical.

FUMi Flavours: What I Liked And What I Didn’t

fumi flavour rankingsPin

Flavour is always going to be subjective.

You might love really hard-hitting peppermint. I prefer spearmint. You might want mango or chilli and lime. I’m generally much happier with strawberry, berries, ice flavours and mint-forward pouches.

That’s the context for everything below. These are my preferences after using the flavours, not some universal ranking that everyone will agree with.

Strawberry: The Best FUMi Flavour I’ve Tried

Strawberry is the standout for me. It was the first FUMi flavour I tried, and it’s still the one that has made the biggest impression.

The flavour comes through quickly. There’s no sitting around wondering when it’s going to get going. You get that sharp strawberry taste and a big hit of sweetness right out of the gate.

What impressed me was how well FUMi handled the fruit flavour. I’d already tried fruit pouches that didn’t do much for me, so this felt like a proper step up.

It made me want to buy more from the brand, which probably tells you more than any score could. The one thing to be aware of is the sweetness. It is very sweet.

That’s part of why I enjoy it, but if you prefer something restrained, this might be a bit much.

For my money, FUMi’s sweet fruit flavours can hold their own against pretty much anything else I’ve tried. Strawberry is the clearest example of that.

You may still see it listed as Tangy Strawberry at some retailers. The current name is Strawberry.

Green Apple: Good, But Strawberry Has The Edge

The apple flavour was another one I tried after getting on so well with Strawberry.

You might know this one as Tangy Apple. It’s now called Green Apple.

I like it. It’s a good fruit pouch and one I’m happy to use, but it didn’t make quite the same impression as Strawberry.

That’s really the distinction here. Green Apple is good. Strawberry was the one that made me stop and think, “They’ve done a really good job with this.”

If you prefer apple to strawberry, you might put them the other way around.

Blackcurrant: A Slower Start, But A Nice Flavour

Blackcurrant is the flavour I’m using at the moment.

It’s pretty good, although it behaves differently from Strawberry.

It takes longer to get going.

With Strawberry, the flavour is there almost immediately. Blackcurrant is much more subtle, especially at the beginning.

Once it gets going, it’s very nice. It just doesn’t have that same immediate impact.

I wouldn’t treat that as a fault in itself. Sometimes you want a flavour that’s a bit less full-on. Just don’t expect the same big opening hit you get from Strawberry.

Spearmint: The Weakest Part Of The Range For Me

I’m a big spearmint guy.

If I’m picking a pouch from almost any brand, spearmint is usually where I start. It’s my go-to flavour, and VELO Bright Spearmint has been my favourite for around 12 months now.

To me, that’s a masterclass in how to make a spearmint pouch.

It’s sweet, delicate and crisp. It’s the kind of pouch I can use day after day without getting bored of it.

FUMi’s Spearmint doesn’t get close for me.

I’ve tried it twice because, after the first tin, I wondered whether I’d just picked up a dud.

The second tin didn’t change my mind.

It lacks the crispness I want from spearmint. It also lacks the finesse I get from VELO and ALP.

Even ZYN Spearmint is better in my opinion, and I’m not a big ZYN guy. Coming from me, that says something.

Nordic Spirit is another brand I’d put ahead of FUMi when I’m choosing a spearmint pouch.

This is FUMi’s biggest weak spot for my tastes. Because spearmint is what I use most, it affects where I place the whole brand.

Fiery Mango: Not For Me, But Mango Usually Isn’t

I wasn’t particularly keen on Fiery Mango, either.

That’s the correct name for the spicy mango flavour.

But I need to be fair here: I’m not particularly into mango pouches in general. Strawberry, berries, ice flavours and spearmint are much more my thing.

So while I wouldn’t rush out to buy another tin, I wouldn’t put this in exactly the same category as Spearmint.

With Spearmint, I love the flavour category and think FUMi’s version falls short. With Fiery Mango, the flavour itself just isn’t something I naturally gravitate towards.

If mango and a spicy edge sound good to you, your opinion could be completely different.

FUMi also makes combinations like Fiery Lime. Chilli and lime in a nicotine pouch? I can barely imagine how that would taste. But that’s a comment on my preferences, not a verdict on a flavour I haven’t reviewed here.

Freezy Mint: Decent, But Not Particularly Moreish

The colder mint flavour is called Freezy Mint, rather than Frosty Mint.

I think it’s pretty good.

It just isn’t particularly moreish for me. I don’t find myself wanting another one in the same way I do with VELO Bright Spearmint.

Again, that comes back to what you like.

Some people want a harder mint flavour or a stronger cooling sensation. I generally prefer the softer, sweeter character of a good spearmint.

Freezy Mint is decent. It just wouldn’t be my first choice.

Pouch Quality: I’ve Never Had A Dud

Whatever my issues with individual flavours, FUMi’s quality has been consistently good.

I’ve bought a lot of these pouches over the last 18 months, and I’ve never had a dud pack or a dud pouch.

That matters.

A flavour can miss the mark for my tastes without there being anything wrong with how the pouch is made. That’s how I see FUMi Spearmint: I don’t enjoy the flavour, but I haven’t had a quality problem with it.

FUMi is produced and distributed by Helix Sweden AB, with production in Ödeshög, Sweden.

Based on the tins I’ve bought, the company knows what it’s doing. The consistency has been there every time.

The Tins And Branding Are Really Well Done

I also really like FUMi’s packaging.

The branding is good, the tins look well put together, and they immediately grab your eye on the shelf.

From a presentation and product quality point of view, I’d put FUMi much closer to a brand like VELO than some lesser-known pouch brand you’ve picked up on a whim.

The product looks good. The tin looks good. The quality backs that up.

FUMi introduced new can designs in spring 2026, so you may see different packaging depending on the retailer and stock. That also explains why some shops still use the older Tangy Strawberry and Tangy Apple names.

But the main reason to buy them is still the flavour. Good branding gets your attention once. A good pouch gets you to buy another tin.

Nicotine Strengths: 8mg Is A Little Light For Me

FUMi has a decent spread of nicotine strengths, including 4mg, 8mg, 11mg and 15mg per pouch across the UK range.

The available strengths depend on the flavour and format. You don’t get every flavour at every strength.

I’m currently using 8mg Blackcurrant pouches, and they feel a little light for my personal preference.

Around 11mg seems to be my sweet spot at the moment.

That’s simply where I am with my own usage. It isn’t a recommendation that everyone should use that strength.

The useful thing is that FUMi gives existing pouch users a choice, including stronger options if that’s what they already use. Just check the actual milligrams per pouch on the tin rather than assuming every FUMi product has the same strength.

How FUMi Compares With My Usual Pouches

FUMi Nicotine Pouches Review: Great Fruit Flavours, Excellent QualityPin

FUMi ends up in a slightly awkward position in my personal rankings.

Its fruit flavours are strong enough to keep me buying it. Its spearmint isn’t.

Because I use spearmint so often, I’d generally put ALP and Nordic Spirit ahead of FUMi for my own day-to-day preferences. VELO Bright Spearmint remains my main mint pick.

But that doesn’t mean FUMi feels like a lower-quality product.

From the branding to the tins to the consistency of the pouches, it feels much closer to VELO. It’s the flavour selection, specifically my disappointment with Spearmint, that keeps it from being one of my main everyday brands.

I also really like wintergreen, although I’ve found it harder to come across in the UK.

ALP Mountain Wintergreen is my current go-to for that flavour here. If you already like wintergreen, I’d recommend checking it out. Very, very good.

That gives you a pretty clear picture of my tastes: spearmint and wintergreen for regular use, with good strawberry and berry flavours mixed in.

FUMi covers that fruit side very well.

My Verdict: Try FUMi For The Fruit Flavours

FUMi flavours tier listPin

Would I recommend trying FUMi? Yes, especially if you already use nicotine pouches and enjoy sweet fruit flavours.

  • Strawberry is the one I’d start with. It’s the best FUMi flavour I’ve tried, and it’s the reason I started buying more from the brand in the first place.
  • Green Apple is good.
  • Blackcurrant is very nice once it gets going.
  • Fiery Mango wasn’t for me, but mango fans may feel differently.

The quality has been consistently good across the tins I’ve bought, and I really like the packaging and branding.

But if mint is your main thing, particularly spearmint, I’d point you towards VELO Bright Spearmint. That’s still my go-to, and FUMi hasn’t come close to replacing it.

FUMi is an above-average brand with some excellent flavours and a couple of weak spots for my tastes.
