There’s no point messing around when it comes to 2020’s #1 top MTL RDA. I’ve tested a bunch this year. Too many to remember. And the one that I always keep coming back to is the VAPEFLY HOLIC 22MM BF MTL RDA – it’s simple, it squonks great, and it kicks out beautiful flavor.
For me, this is the ONLY MTL RDA you should be looking at right now. Since about mid-way through 2019, I’ve spent close to $800 on MTL RDAs, testing them out and running them through their paces. The VAPEFLY HOLIC MTL RDA is the one I keep coming back too, though.
And the reason is simple: the VAPEFLY HOLIC 22MM BF MTL RDA is simple to use, it looks great, and it kicks out some of the best flavor this side of Venus. If you’re after a reliable, solid MTL RDA, this is the one to go for. As you can see below, we really dig it…
The Best MTL RDA (Our #1 Pick)

Best MTL RDAs (Best of The Rest)
Out of ALL the MTL RDAs I tested between 2019 and 2020, the VAPEFLY HOLIC came out on top – by a considerable margin. However, there were plenty of other good ones in there, and the best of the rest are listed below.
These MTL RDA tanks are all decent. They all look and work great. But for a variety of reasons – from flavor performance to the usability of the deck – none were quite as good as the VAPEFLY HOLIC.
Still, it’s always good to have a few options, right?

Top MTL RDAs Detailed In Full
#1) Vandy Vape Berserker 1.5 MTL RDA
The Vandy Vape Berserker 1.5 MTL RDA is the newest addition to my collection. I’ve had mine a couple of weeks now, and it has impressed me no end. From the flavor to the look and finish of the tank, everything works great.
I think the Berserker 1.5 is one of the better-looking options around right now too. It’s reasonably unique-looking, and the deck is very straight-forward to use, which makes it ideal for newer, less experienced vapers.
The airflow is adjustable so you can get it as tight as you like; have a play around and see what suits you best. As for flavor, the Berserker 1.5 MTL RDA delivers it in spades. I use Nic Salts in mine, and it is very, very good.
I don’t have anything negative to say about this tank; you get plenty of kit with it, it works well, it’s easy to set up, and it vapes like a champion. I even like the mouthpiece it comes with – it’s perfect for MTL-style vaping.
#2) Cthulhu 1928 MTL RDA
The Cthulhu 1928 MTL RDA is a 22mm, squonk-ready RDA that is simple to set up, easy to wick, and quick to get going. It rocks a single coil, as you’d expect, and the AFC gives you plenty of control over the draw.
You don’t get much in the kit itself – no coils, no cotton – and the deck is small. But once you get the Cthulhu 1928 MTL RDA ripping, you’ll forget all about this. The flavor, the draw – everything’s plush.
Add in squonk functionality, and you’re in MTL heaven. I run mine on my Dual Topside, and because it runs at low wattages, I get around 2-3 days of battery life which is always a good thing.
For my tastes, the Cthulhu 1928 MTL RDA delivers the best flavor of any MTL RDA on the market right now. It’s simple to set-up, easy to use, and it squonks. What more could you want from an MTL RDA?
#3) GeekVape AMMIT RDA MTL
The GeekVape AMMIT RDA MTL is a solid little set up that has tons of options when it comes to airflow. You can have it nice and tight for a solid MTL vape, or more open for a more restricted DTL session.
The look, feel, and design of the GeekVape AMMIT RDA MTL is beautiful and compact. It comes in a range of colors, and the deck is super-simple to build on.
Again, it’s not my #1 choice on this list, but it is a competent tank, especially if you want to do more than MTL vaping.
As for performance, you get decent flavor (in all airflow settings) and the ability to kick out some pretty impressive clouds, providing you open up the airflow a bit. Bottom line: this is a well-priced, versatile tank that ticks a lot of my boxes.
Can You Use Nic Salts With MTL RDA?
Yes. You can. Alternatively, you can use E Juices with higher concentrations of PG – think 60/40 or 50/50. I tend to use Nic Salts in my MTL RDAs, however, as I prefer the smoothness of Nic Salts E Juice versus higher PG standard, freebase E Juice. Unlike traditional RDA tanks, where you use high VG vape juice, MTL RDAs work best with high PG or Nic Salts vape juice.
As for the strength of your Nic Salts E Juice, that’s up to you. I know some of VapeBeat’s readers love their 45mg E Juice. For me, that’s a bit much. I tend to keep my nicotine as low as possible; anywhere around 10mg to 20mg is perfect for me.
Speaking personally, I tend to favor 10mg Nic Salts E Juice in my MTL RDAs simply because I get more flavor from the draw. And I’m all about the taste. With pod mods, I do like to go a little higher; maybe 20mg. That’s my preference; you might be different.
If you’re new to Nic Salts E Juice and are looking for nice-tasting vape juice, I’ve laid out my current favorites in the table below. These are what I vape all the time; my go-to brands, if you will. I’ve tested hundreds of Nic Salts brands over the past two years; these are what I’d describe as my all-time favorites.
