Lightest and Heaviest Vaporizers
- Lightest: The PAX Plus is the most lightweight option, weighing only 90g. This makes it ideal for users seeking a discreet, portable device for on-the-go sessions.
- Heaviest: The Mighty+ and Arizer Solo 3 are among the heaviest, each weighing around 230g. These models are better suited for users prioritizing session quality and battery life over portability.
Battery Capacity and Longevity
- High Battery Capacity: The Mighty+ has the highest battery capacity at 6600 mAh, supporting longer sessions and extended use, which is great for heavy users or those who don’t want to charge frequently.
- Moderate Battery Capacity: The Arizer Solo 3 and Arizer Air Max both offer robust battery capacities (3400 mAh and 5500 mAh, respectively), making them good options for moderate users who want reliability without frequent recharging.
- Lower Battery Capacity: Models like the Firefly 2+ (770 mAh) have smaller batteries, so they are designed for users who prioritize flavor and session quality over battery life.
Bowl Size and Usage Recommendations
- Larger Bowls: For those looking to enjoy longer sessions without frequently refilling, models like the DaVinci IQ3 (0.7g bowl size) and Utillian 722 (0.3g bowl size) allow for larger loads, ideal for extended or group sessions.
- Smaller Bowls: Options like the Firefly 2+ (0.15g) and PAX Plus (0.35g) suit users who prefer smaller, more frequent sessions or prioritize flavor and efficiency in smaller amounts.
Dimensions and Portability
- Compact and Portable: The PAX Plus and DaVinci IQ3 are among the smallest, designed for easy carrying and discreet usage.
- Larger Models: Vaporizers like the Utillian 722 and Arizer Solo 2 are on the larger side, offering more substantial builds with high performance but being less ideal for portability.
Things to Keep in Mind Before Buying a Vaporizer
- Budget and Brand Reputation: Some models, like the Mighty+ and Venty are high-end, performance vaporizers. They’re the cream of the crop and they deliver best in class performance. But they are more expensive. Others, like the Utillian 722, offer good performance at a more affordable price.
- Usage Environment: If you plan to use the vaporizer mainly at home, a heavier model with a high battery capacity, like the Mighty+ or Arizer Solo 3, may be best suited. For frequent travel or on-the-go use, a lighter model like the PAX Plus could be more practical.
- Battery Life vs. Session Quality: Heavy users or those who prefer uninterrupted sessions should prioritize high battery capacities (e.g., Mighty+). On the other hand, users who want flavorful, quick sessions may prefer the Firefly 2+ for its convection heating, even with shorter battery life, although I’m not really a fan of the Firefly series to be honest.
- Heating Method: Consider whether you want a vaporizer with convection heating (e.g., Firefly 2+), which offers more flavor, or a mix of conduction and convection (e.g., Crafty+) for balanced heating. Convection vaporizers tend to preserve more flavor but can require more precise temperature control.
- Bowl Size and Refilling Needs: Larger bowl sizes (like the DaVinci IQ3) are better for extended sessions and group use, while smaller bowls are convenient for single, quick sessions without wasting herbs.
My advice? If you want the best of all possible worlds, go with the Mighty+ or the Venty – both are made by Storz & Bickel and both are truly outstanding.
The Mighty+ (based on my own personal opinion) is the better choice as it is $100 cheaper (and it matches the Venty where it counts).
