I’ve been testing e-liquid since 2014. If you add it all up, that’s somewhere north of 200 brands over the last decade, covering everything from high-VG cloud chasers and freebase juices to the nic salts that have basically taken over my rotation for the past eight years or so.

That’s a lot of juice. More than I can realistically remember, if I’m being honest.

But here’s the thing: out of all of them, only a handful ever made me stop mid-vape and think wow. Those are the ones that end up on a list like this.

Fun Fact: The American vape juice market took off around 2013-2015, when small-batch “craft” e-liquid brands started producing flavour profiles that blew the cheap, plasticky imported stuff completely out of the water. That era gave us some of the most iconic juices still selling today.

The Shortlist Doesn’t Happen Overnight

Building a go-to list takes years, not weeks. You try a juice, you live with it for a while, you go back to it after trying twenty other things, and if you keep coming back to it unprompted, that’s when you know it belongs somewhere permanent.

Yami Vapor sits right at the top for me. I genuinely believe it’s the nicest tasting nic salt you can buy, anywhere in the world. Nobody makes juice that tastes quite as good in my humble opinion.

NKD 100’s Hawaiian Pog is one I’ve been vaping since basically the beginning. What We Look For

• Flavor accuracy. Does it taste like what it says on the label? A strawberry should taste like an actual strawberry, not a vague red sweetness. A tobacco should have depth and character, not just a burnt aftertaste.
• Consistency across devices. A juice that only works in one specific coil setup isn’t a great juice, it’s a lucky pairing. Everything on this list performs across a range of pod systems and salt-compatible devices.
• Longevity. Juices that peak on the first vape and fade into muted background noise after a day don’t make the cut. The ones that stuck around are the ones that stayed interesting over time.
• Repeat purchase rate. If I or someone on our testing team ran out and immediately ordered more without really thinking about it, that’s the clearest signal you can get.

Fun Fact: Nic salts were first developed by PAX Labs (yes, the dry herb vape brand) and introduced to the market around 2015. The smoother throat hit at higher nicotine concentrations is what made them a natural fit for pod systems and ex-smokers.

A few others that made the cut and deserve a mention:

• Glassful Basix does a tobacco salt that’s genuinely one of the best in the category. Tobacco is one of the hardest flavours to get right in a nic salt, and they nailed it.
• I Love Salts Blueberry Raspberry is one of the best fruit blends in the format. Balanced, clean, not overly sweet. It just works.
• Killer Custard by Vapetasia is a legitimate icon. If you haven’t tried it, you owe it to yourself. There’s a reason it’s been on best-of lists since the mid-2010s and never really left.
• Svrf Salt is the one for people who want something lighter and more refreshing without it feeling watery or thin. It’s got real balance.
• Smooth Mango by Pod Salt is exactly what it sounds like: a mango salt done well. If you’re a mango fan and you haven’t tried this yet, that’s the next purchase you should be making.

Why This List Took As Long As It Did

Putting this together wasn’t a quick afternoon job. It involved going back through years of testing notes, comparing things side by side, and in some cases re-buying juices I hadn’t touched in a while to see if they still held up.

A lot of them did. A few didn’t make the cut anymore because the formula had shifted or a better option had come along.

The result is a list I’d actually hand to someone and say: buy these, you literally cannot go wrong.
