The pods last for weeks at a time (I’m averaging 16 to 20 days), the flavor is well inside the top 1% of pod vapes, and it is built to an exceedingly high standard, using solid, premium materials.

If you’re after something a little more eye-catching with killer coils that last for weeks between changes, the VooPoo Argus Matrix is definitely worth a look.

As regular readers will know, I’ve never been a massive fan of VooPoo’s pod vapes. They always look great but, historically, were usually let down by inconsistencies with coil longevity.

The VooPoo Argus G3 showed that things were changing for the better but it still wasn’t a match for the top-tier pod vapes on the market right now.

The VooPoo Matrix Argus is different, though. It is up there with the current best of the best, and that is significant.

The star of the show is not its flashy exterior but what’s inside. VooPoo has FINALLY nailed its coil tech for pod vapes, and the results are glorious.

Is it enough to take over from the Vaporesso XROS 5 as my daily driver? Read on find out…

Build Quality & Design

I’m not usually one for busy designs or things that try and look futuristic. I prefer subtle lines and classic aesthetics for my clothes, cars, and, yes, my vapes.

But I’ll cut VooPoo some slack here because, while the Argus Matrix is a little on the design side of things, it more than makes up for it with performance.

In the hand, it feels robust and premium. It has a nice weight, an ergonomic feel, and it is nice and compact as a pod vape should be.

There’s a curved full-screen display, full LED animations, and the zinc alloy chassis ensures it can take a lick and keep on ticking.

But all these eye-catching design choices do come with some caveats:

  • It does pick up fingerprints (especially on the mirrored screen)
  • It’s slightly chunkier than the Argus G3 but not obnoxiously so
  • The dynamic LED system can be turned off (if you’re more “stealth mode” than “RGB gamer”)

Other than that, the Argus Matrix is a fine looking machine that’ll fit neatly in your pocket, feel great in the hand, and it’ll run rings around even the most advanced disposable vape system.

Battery Life & Charging

1350mAh internal battery. That’s enough to go 2–3 days with moderate use and even with heavy use, you’ll easily hit a full day.

I’m getting a solid, full day from it. I’m a heavy vaper, though, so your mileage will vary.

I’m usually up at 5 am, so I start earlier than most. By the time it gets around to late-afternoon, my vapes are usually around the 50% mark.

The Argus Matrix was no different. I could probably eek it out for the rest of the day without a top-up, but why bother?

It charges fast and a quick 15 minute blast on a USB C cable and you’re back at full power.

Performance-wise, the battery isn’t quite as good as my XROS 5 but it’s honestly too close to call and there’s no real, meaningful difference. Maybe 5% to 8% tops.

Charging it from completely dead takes a bit longer; you’re looking at 35–45 minutes.

Compared to older pod systems like the XROS 3 Mini (which struggles to last half a day under heavy use), the Matrix is a massive step in the right direction.

Pods, Coils & Flavor

VooPoo Argus Matrix Review: Next-Level Coil Performance!Pin

This is where things get really interesting.

The Matrix comes with two top-fill pods:

  • 0.4Ω → Best for RDL (more vapor, more airflow)
  • 0.7Ω → Best for MTL (tight draw, better for nic salts)

Each coil is wrapped in a dense copper Liquid-Seal Shield.

This covers 99% of the internal chamber surface area.

VooPoo says this reduces leaking by up to 83% compared to standard coil systems.

I haven’t had a single leak on this thing but then again none of the pods I’ve used in the last couple of years have leaked either.

The real talking point here, however, is how long these pods last…

Coil Lifespan

VooPoo rates each pod for up to 100ml of e-liquid before replacement is needed.

This is a bold claim. But here I am 12,000+ puffs into a coil and it’s showing no signs of dying.

That’s impressive. I don’t know if it’ll do 100ml of juice, but 12,000+ is very impressive for a VooPoo pod.

Just 18 months ago, you’d be lucky to get 2 weeks from a VooPoo pod vape coil.

Now? The Argus Matrix is nipping at Vaporesso’s heels. I honestly did not expect this. I kept expecting the flavor to crap out after a few days.

Nope, I’m 2 weeks and bit into my current coil and it’s still going strong.

Perhaps part of the reason for this is that VooPoo uses aerospace-grade Golden Cotton, which resists heat breakdown up to 260°C, instead of standard stuff that sh*ts the bed at 150°C.

Either way, it works. VooPoo has finally solved its coil’s longevity issues.

But that’s not all, there’s more. The coil chamber also uses something called “speed-control cotton” that instantly saturates.

This prevents dry hits and gives you consistent, flavorful hits even during prolonged chain vaping stints.

Flavor Quality

Both pods produce clean, accurate flavor. The 0.7Ω MTL pod delivers tighter draw and better flavor clarity.

The 0.4Ω pod produces more vapor but slightly less intensity.

You’ll want to use the Argus Matrix with nic salts, ideally Bar Salts. These pack in more flavor and are kinder to the coils which means they last longer.

These coils have properly impressed me. I think they’re almost on par with Vaporesso’s COREX system, and that is an incredible feat to pull off…

Airflow Control: Surprisingly Precise

The Matrix uses a 3-level airflow slider, so you can dial in your draw depending on your pod and juice:

  • Tight MTL with the 0.7Ω pod and closed airflow
  • Loose RDL with the 0.4Ω and open airflow
  • Something in between? No problem

It’s not infinitely adjustable but it’s enough to quickly tighten up or loosen things on the fly. I actually found myself using it way more than I thought I would which is usually a positive sign.

User Interface & Smart Features

The Argus Matrix has a full-on RGB lighting system built into it which, mercifully, can be toned down.

But the lights themselves aren’t just there for show, they also serve a purpose.

You also have vaping modes to play around with too, and a fairly detailed screen, complete with easy-to-read settings which includes:

  • Smart Mode: Auto-detects pod resistance and sets ideal wattage
  • Variable Wattage: Want to tweak it manually? Go from 5–30W on demand
  • Screen Info: Battery %, puff count, wattage—all easy to read on the curved display
  • Auto & Button Fire: Use whichever firing method feels more natural

Honestly? It’s user-friendly enough for beginners, but has enough customization for advanced vapers too. I’m firmly in the set-it-and-forget-it camp when it comes to pod vapes (and all vapes in general, to be honest).

But it is nicer to have things you MIGHT want and not use them, than to want something and NOT have it. Plus, everything included in the Argus Matrix is tasteful and serves a purpose.

What’s Not So Great?

Every device has its quirks and the Matrix is no exception, but the pros massively outweigh the cons this time around.

As for caveats, there’s a few and the biggest ones for me are as follows:

  • Pods are single-use → You can’t just change coils (this will annoy some old-school vapers)
  • Pricey vs. entry-level → Expect to pay around $35–$39 retail
  • The fill method is a little awkward → The internal chimney splits the tank; you’ll need to tilt to fill both sides evenly
  • Fingerprint magnet → If you’re OCD about smudges, keep a microfiber cloth handy

Who’s It For?

  • Disposable Upgraders: If you’re done burning through Elf Bars, this is a solid next step.
  • Style-First Vapers: Love lights, curves, and futuristic designs? You’ll dig it.
  • Flavor Chasers: The iCOSM pods are no joke—flavor’s bold, and it lasts.
  • Set-It-and-Forget-It Folks: With smart wattage and simple pods, it just works.

Wrapping Up: Is the VooPoo Argus Matrix Worth It?

With long battery life, killer flavor, and future-proof compatibility across the Argus pod range, the VooPoo Argus Matrix is a hugely impressive pod system that does nearly everything at an A+ level.

It really, really impressed me. And that does not happen very often.
