The Best Affordable E Rig For Battery I’ve Ever Tested To Date

Which E Rig Has The Best Battery Life?

E Rigs make life much, much easier for dabbing but most smart rigs have terrible to middling battery life. I tested out the Pulsar APX eRig earlier this year and it’s battery performance blew me away.

The platform is built around a massive 3200mAh battery that supports USB-C charging. It’s big enough to get you through a full day which, for people like me, matters more than fancy bells and whistles.

For travel, for parties, for festivals, this thing is perfect. I took mine for a weekend break in the Rockies and I think I charged it once. I wasn’t caning it all day long but that’s still damn impressive for an E Rig.

Battery Life: This is The Main Event

The 3200mAh cell is the headline here, and it earns its billing. Most compact e-rigs ship with batteries that tap out after a handful of sessions. The APX eRig is built to handle a full day of use for most people, with lower temp settings stretching that even further.

It ain’t just marketing fluff either. As noted in the intro, I took mine on a weekend away in the Rockies and only charged it once. I wasn’t using it much in the day (for obvious reasons) but it got plenty of usage in the evenings, and even then I only charged it once on the last day.

I’ve done similar trips with portable weed vaporizers and smart dab rigs and NONE have ever lasted that long.

USB-C charging keeps top-up times reasonable, which matters on a power-hungry device like this. It isn’t rapid but it also doesn’t take too long. 90 minutes and you’re good to go. I charged mine up on the trip with a portable powerbank.

Fun Fact: The Pulsar APX eRig’s 3200mAh battery is comparable to what you’d find in a mid-range smartphone. Most portable dab rigs ship with cells half that size.

Flavor and Vapor Quality

The coil-less quartz cup atomizer is a big deal for flavor. No wick, no coil material, just clean quartz doing its job.

Given the price of this rig, when I first set it up I didn’t really know what to expect. I’d heard good things, though, so I was pleasantly surprised when I got a nice, thick, milky vapor from it on the first go.

The flavor was solid, easily as good as my PuffCo Peak Pro and close to the more expensive Dr Dabber Switch 2.

The showerhead percolator in the glass chamber smooths everything out before it hits your lungs. For a portable rig, that’s a meaningful quality-of-life upgrade. If you’ve been dabbing off a basic pen, the difference is like night and day.

Control and Flexibility

Five temperature presets cover the full range from low-temp flavor runs to full cloud production. The 40-second Sesh Mode handles most situations, and Manual Mode gives you more control when you want it.

I tend to just stick with Sesh Mode as it’s the most battery efficient and it still gets the job done.

The pivoting atomizer manifold and included terp pearls round out the session setup, helping distribute concentrate more evenly for better efficiency and vapor production.

Build Quality

Pulsar APX eRig unboxing what you getPin

The APX eRig is large and solid. Thick glass, a sturdy frame, and a premium feel throughout. This isn’t a pocket rig, but the tradeoff is a setup that feels purpose-built rather than compromised.

It fits in a backpack easily enough and once it’s in there you’ll barely notice it. The general look and feel of it is very solid but because it’s got a lot of glass, you’ll want to wrap it up in a towel or a jumper or something to keep it protected.

It disassembles easily for cleaning, which is non-negotiable on any concentrate device you actually want to last. It’s also super-handy when you’re traveling and away from home.

Who the Pulsar APX eRig Is For

  • Buy it if: Battery life and flavor quality are your top priorities, and you’re using this primarily at home or in one location.
  • Skip it if: You need something ultra-portable or you’re new to concentrates and just want a simple starter setup. Check my top picks for the best dab rigs and E Rigs right now.

Verdict

This E Rig Has The Best Battery Life I've Tested To Date (And It's Not Even Close)Pin

The Pulsar APX eRig is for people who’ve been burned (no pun intended) by portable rigs that can’t keep up.

The 3200mAh battery, coil-less quartz atomizer, and water filtration work together to make this one of the more complete portable e-rigs at its price point. It’s not the smallest option, but for battery life, price and flavor it is really hard to beat right now.

Mine has earned a prominent place in my weekly rotation of rigs. And when I travel which isn’t as often as I’d like to these days, it is the dab rig I always reach for because of its exceptional battery life.

Hey! FAQ You, Man!

How long does the Pulsar APX eRig battery last?

I’ve been getting a full day of moderate use on one charge. Lower temperature settings extend runtime significantly. The 3200mAh capacity is large for a portable rig, which is the main reason it outperforms most competitors in this category.

Does the Pulsar APX eRig use USB-C?

Yes. USB-C charging is standard on the APX eRig, making top-ups faster and easier than older micro-USB setups.

What kind of atomizer does the Pulsar APX eRig use?

It uses a coil-less quartz cup atomizer. This means no wick or metal coil contact with your concentrate, which results in cleaner flavor and more consistent heating across the session.

Is the Pulsar APX eRig good for beginners?

It’s a capable device, but it’s aimed more at users who already know they want a serious portable rig. If you’re newer to concentrates, it’s worth reading my dabbing 101 guide first to understand what you’re looking for before committing to a setup at this level.

Can you use terp pearls with the Pulsar APX eRig?

Yes, the APX eRig ships with terp pearls included. The pivoting atomizer manifold helps spin them during a session, which improves concentrate distribution and vapor production.
