The XROS 6 is a proper upgrade to the XROS 5. It looks and feels much the same, but the battery is bigger, the airflow has been updated and Smart Prime makes fitting a fresh pod easier. The flavour is excellent, the pods last 4 to 6 weeks between changes, and the device is simple enough that you can just fill it and vape.

I’ve used XROS devices since the original came out. My XROS 3 and XROS 4 still work well, and I’ve been using the XROS Pro 2 for well over a year. I keep going back to this range for one main reason: the pods last far longer for me than the ones I use in other pod vapes. I usually get four to six weeks from a pod, depending on how much I vape and which liquid I’m using.
The only thing to consider is that the XROS 6 isn’t the only device in the range. I use the XROS Pro 2 as my daily driver, and for me, it’s the better vape overall. It has a larger battery, which matters because pod vapes don’t always last as long as you’d like between charges.
I’ll compare the XROS 6 with the Pro 2 throughout this review. The XROS 6 is compact, easy to use and has a few useful upgrades over the XROS 5. The Pro 2 gives you slightly more battery life and is the one I prefer for everyday use.
By the end, you should have a clear idea of which one suits the way you vape.
Still, the XROS 6 is a nice update over the XROS 5; it’s nothing dramatic but it does improve massively in two areas that matter day to day: battery life and setting up a new pod.

| Best for | Most people buying a new XROS | Users who want the biggest battery | Owners happy with their current device |
The Pro 2 has the largest battery at 2,000 mAh, while the XROS 5 has a 1,500 mAh battery. All three run up to 30W and use XROS pods. The XROS 6’s distinctive additions are its 60-second priming cycle and Venturi airflow.
Personally, I prefer the larger battery. I’ll take that over the new Venturi airflow. That said, if you are a light to moderate user, the difference in battery life probably isn’t going to be that noticeable.
With the XROS Pro 2, I still usually have to charge up at least one point later on in the evening. But I’m what you’d call a heavy user. If I’m going out, for instance, to the pub with my mates after work, I always give it a full charge around 5 or 6 o’clock.
XROS 6 vs XROS 5: the battery upgrade you’ll notice

The XROS 6’s 1,800 mAh battery is 300 mAh larger than the XROS 5’s 1,500 mAh battery. That’s a 20% increase in capacity. The devices are so similar in size that the XROS 6 doesn’t feel like a bulky step up. It’s just a little taller: 122mm compared with 120mm for the XROS 5 which means it is still nice and compact, ideal for discre
In my side-by-side use, the extra capacity gives me about 90 minutes more vaping time across the day. That’s a useful difference. You’re not usually vaping constantly, so that extra time gets spread across all the little moments you reach for it. I notice it, and I appreciate it.
The XROS 5 is still a good device. If yours is working well, there’s no urgent reason to replace it. But if you’re buying a new one, I’d choose the XROS 6.
XROS 6 vs XROS Pro 2: which one should you get?
I use the XROS Pro 2 because I want as much battery life as I can get from a pod vape. Its 2,000 mAh battery gives it the advantage over the XROS 6, and that extra capacity suits the way I vape.
The XROS 6 is the better fit for moderate or light users. It’s compact, straightforward, and the 1,800 mAh battery should be more than enough for most people. You also get Smart Prime, which is handy when you change pods.
If you vape heavily or battery life is your top priority, I’d get the XROS Pro 2. If you want a compact everyday vape and don’t need the biggest battery in the range, get the XROS 6.
Smart Prime makes changing pods easier
With a new pod, the wick needs time to soak up e-liquid before you use it. If you vape too soon, you can get a burnt hit. Smart Prime gives you a simple way to let that fresh pod prime for 60 seconds.
You start the Prime Coil cycle on the device, then let the timer run. It’s a useful quality-of-life feature, especially if you’re new to refillable pods. It reduces the chance of using a fresh pod before the wick is ready, though you should still fill it properly and give the liquid time to soak in.
The feature is designed for COREX 3.0 pods. The XROS 6 itself remains compatible with the wider XROS pod range. Although this feature, Smart Prime, is only available on XROS 6 products, it’s not available on the XROS Pro 2.
Is a deal breaker for the XROS Pro 2? I don’t think so. It’s useful, sure, but it’s not something that I would basically go out and buy a new vape for. What it is is useful, and that’s kind of like the Vaporesso XROS 6’s whole deal. It’s useful, it’s simple, and it’s perfect for beginners who might not know their way around a pod vape, as well as somebody who’s been vaping for a few years.
The flavour is excellent, and the pods last

The flavour is as good as it gets from a pod vape. Use a decent nic salt and the XROS 6 gives you a clean, full taste without making you fiddle with settings all day. Next to how long the pods actually last on these things, flavor is arguably the next big reason why I’ve been a Vaporesso fanboy for pretty much as long as I can remember.
Flavour isn’t everything. Most pods will give you pretty good flavor once the coils have been primed. The difference is how long the pods last, and this is where Vaporesso really, really pulls ahead of the competition.
I usually get four to six weeks from an XROS pod. That can make a big difference to how much you spend on replacements over the year. My XROS Pro 2 has been in regular use for well over 12 months, and I’ve only bought a few packs of spare pods. You factor in the price of a pack of replacement pods, around $15. The savings quickly add up, especially if you’re used to using a pod vape where you have to change the pod every 2 weeks or a week.
This is one of the main reasons why, contrary to what you might read online, we consistantly rank Vaporesso as the best pod vape manufacturer, and NOT OXVA. .
OXVA makes awesome hardware. The vapes themselves are brilliantly designed. They have more features, more power, more bells and whistles than you get on a Vaporesso XROS vape, but the difference between them, again, comes down to the pods.
Vaporesso’s pods last 2 to 3 times as long. For me, that’s a massive, massive USP, and it’s the reason why I use a Vaporesso XROS Pro 2 and not the OXVA XLIM Pro 3. I own the OXVA XLIM Pro 3, I bought one as soon as it came out, but it still plays second fiddle to my XROS Pro 2, and the reason, again, is because Vaporesso’s coils are so much better.
OXVA’s only last for about 2 weeks tops at the best times, whereas with the Vaporesso XROS Pro 2 and the XROS 6, I consistently get 4 to 6 weeks between pod changes.
You need to know which Vaporesso pods to use to get optimal longevity.
The 0.6Ω and 0.4Ω pods are my picks. They give me the best balance of flavour and longevity. I find the 0.8Ω pod too tight, and I’ve had some leaking with it. I’ve also found that the smaller wicking holes can gunk up more quickly.
That’s my one caveat for COREX pods. Just avoid the 0.8ohm COREX, go with the 0.6Ω or 0.4Ω, and you’ll be vaping on easy mode for weeks and weeks at a time before having to replace the pod.
Simple to use, easy to live with
The XROS 6 is compact, well put together and easy to use. Fill the pod, choose your power and airflow, and vape. You can use the screen and buttons to adjust it, but you don’t need to spend time setting everything up.
The 0.88-inch screen shows your settings and battery level, and USB-C charging makes it easy to top up with a standard cable.
If you want a set-and-forget kind of vape, this is the one to go for. You literally don’t have to touch anything if you don’t want to. Once the pod is inserted, the device will register the correct wattage for it. It will do a smart prime cycle, and then, after the 60 seconds are up, all you’ve got to do is just take it out of your pocket, vape, and make sure it’s filled up with juice.
The XROS 6’s adjustable airflow lets you switch between a tighter mouth-to-lung draw and a more open restricted direct-to-lung draw. Its new Venturi airflow system is designed to guide air through the device more smoothly, reducing turbulence and draw resistance.
If you’re coming from an older XROS device, you will notice a difference, too. It’s quieter, smoother, and the flavor comes through a little bit more clearly.
There’s also an XROS 6 Mini, but I’d stick with the full-size XROS 6. The regular model is already compact, and I’d rather have the bigger battery and screen. I did test out the XROS 6 Mini, and while it was decent, it pretty much performs exactly the same as the XROS 6, with flavor and coil performance, the one caveat is the battery life: it’s nowhere near as good.
I would only recommend the XROS 6 Mini if you absolutely want the most compact vape you can get your hands on and don’t really care about battery life.
Verdict: Is the XROS 6 worth buying?

The XROS 6 is simple, reliable and gives you excellent flavour. Personally, I’d say it’s probably the simplest and best set-and-forget vape you can buy right now. It’s perfect for beginners. It’s perfect for people that want a hassle-free vaping device, and it’s also great for people who want to get off disposable vapes and use something that’s more cost-efficient.
The flavour is incredible. The pods last 4 to 6 weeks, and the battery life will get most moderate users through a full day. If you’re a heavier user, you can top up around 5 or 6, and that’ll see you through till the next day easily.
The four main reasons why I recommend the Vaporesso XROS 6:
- Its battery is 20% larger than the XROS 5’s,
- Smart Prime makes a new pod easier to set up,
- and the compact design hasn’t changed in any meaningful way.
- Most of all, it keeps the XROS pods that I get weeks of use from.
Things to keep in mind:
- If you want the biggest battery, get the XROS Pro 2.
- If your XROS 5 still works, keep using it.
But if you’re buying a new pod vape and want something compact that tastes great and doesn’t make you think about vaping all day, I’d get the XROS 6.
