ZAR AirPouch Nicotine Strength Guide: Which Should You Choose? My Advice…

ZAR AirPouch comes in five nicotine strengths:

  • 3mg
  • 6mg
  • 9mg
  • 16mg
  • 35mg

ZAR currently uses 16mg rather than 15mg, and there is no 12mg option in its standard strength ladder.

For most experienced smokers and vapers, I would treat 16mg as the upper limit. The 35mg version is exceptionally strong and, honestly, far more nicotine than most people need.

As for which flavors are best, we’ve got a detailed guide that ranks all of Zar’s current AirPouch flavors, so check that out for our recommendations on where to start.

ZAR AirPouch Strength Guide

StrengthBest suited to
3mgLight users or the final stage of tapering
6mgRegular vapers moving to pouches
9mgExperienced vapers and moderate smokers
16mgHeavy smokers or high-tolerance vapers
35mgExtremely high-tolerance users only

These are starting points, not exact conversions. A cigarette, vape and nicotine pouch all deliver nicotine differently, so you cannot reliably say that one pouch equals a set number of cigarettes.

3mg: Best for Tapering Down

The 3mg AirPouch is the lowest-strength option and the best place to finish if you are gradually reducing your nicotine intake.

It will probably feel too light for a heavy smoker or someone using a high-strength disposable all day. However, it makes sense for occasional users or people who have already worked their way down through the stronger ZAR options.

Go with 3mg if: You have a low tolerance or are close to stopping nicotine completely.

6mg: Best Everyday Starting Point

The 6mg version is where I would start if you currently vape regularly but do not use particularly strong e-liquid.

It delivers a noticeable effect without immediately jumping into high-strength pouch territory. It is also available across the widest selection of ZAR flavors, including Berry Vibe and Grape Splash.

Go with 6mg if: You want to replace regular vaping with something discreet and manageable.

9mg: Best for Experienced Vapers

The 9mg AirPouch is better suited to people who already have a decent nicotine tolerance.

If you use a 5% disposable vape regularly, 6mg may feel slightly underpowered. The 9mg version gives you more of a kick without moving straight to the much stronger 16mg pouch.

Go with 9mg if: You are a regular high-strength vaper or a moderate smoker moving away from cigarettes.

16mg: My Upper Limit

ZARโ€™s 16mg AirPouch is seriously strong. This is the one I would reserve for heavy smokers and experienced pouch users who know that 6mg or 9mg will not be enough.

Even then, start carefully. The AirPouch is less than 1mm thick, but its tiny size does not mean the nicotine content is low.

For me, 16mg is the practical ceiling. It delivers more than enough nicotine for heavy use without moving into the rather silly territory of the 35mg version.

Go with 16mg if: You have a high tolerance and already know that lower-strength pouches do not satisfy you.

35mg: Stronger Than Almost Anyone Needs

The 35mg AirPouch is one of the strongest nicotine pouches you can buy.

I would not casually recommend it to someone simply because they smoke heavily. Even smoking three packs a day does not give us a reliable conversion, because cigarettes and oral pouches deliver nicotine at different rates.

If 16mg does not feel strong enough, I would question whether moving to 35mg is the right answer. The more sensible option may be to speak to a pharmacist or stop-smoking adviser about a proper nicotine-replacement plan.

Too much nicotine can cause nausea, dizziness, headaches, sweating, hiccups, excess saliva and a racing heartbeat. Remove the pouch immediately if you begin feeling unwell. Nicotine is addictive, and pouches should be kept away from children and pets. The CDC also notes that nicotine pouches are not approved as a smoking-cessation aid.

Go with 35mg if: You are already accustomed to unusually strong pouches and fully understand your tolerance. For nearly everyone else, do not.

Which ZAR Flavor Should You Choose?

If you want access to every strength, including 9mg and 35mg, the main options are:

  • Fresh Mint: The safest all-round choice
  • Cola: Sweet, slightly different and surprisingly good
  • Watermelon: Best for fruit fans

Other options include Lemon Crush, Citrus, Strawberry Lush, Spearmint Fresh and Wintergreen Bright. Berry Vibe and Grape Splash are currently centred around the 6mg range, so they are better suited to moderate users than anyone looking for maximum strength.

Me? I really liked its Cola flavor; it’s one of the best cola blends I’ve tested to date.

My Recommendation

ZAR AirPouch Nicotine Strength Guide: Which Should You Choose? My Advice...Pin
  • For most people moving away from vaping, start with 6mg.
  • Choose 9mg if you already use strong disposables or vape heavily.
  • Heavy smokers and very experienced pouch users can consider 16mg, but I would make that the upper limit.

If you are tapering, a simple route would be:

9mg โ†’ 6mg โ†’ 3mg โ†’ nicotine-free

As for the 35mg version? It exists, but that does not mean you need to use it.
