ALP Drifters Review: Fruit-Forward Pouches That KICK ASS

If you’ve spent any time in the US nicotine pouch market lately, you know the problem. Everything tastes like a slightly different version of mint.

Spearmint, wintergreen, cool mint, extra cool mint.

It’s a sea of menthol and not a whole lot else.

So when ALP dropped the Drifters line, a limited-edition expansion with 12 distinct flavors and a tropical-forward direction, I grabbed a few cans immediately.

Here’s my 2 cents on why this pouch line is well worth taking for a spin…

What Is ALP Drifters?

ALP Drifters is a limited-edition line from ALP (American Loose Pouch), positioned as a flavor-forward expansion of their main nicotine pouch range.

Where the core ALP lineup focuses on the essentials, Drifters pushes into tropical territory with 12 distinct flavor options and a moister pouch construction designed for faster nicotine release.

The format stays familiar: 20 pouches per can, each one is moist AF, available in 6mg and 12mg strengths.

But the experience is noticeably different the moment you open a can.

The Flavor Count Is the Real Story

Twelve flavors. That’s the headline here and it genuinely matters.

The US nicotine pouch market has been mint-obsessed since day one. ZYN built most of its initial shelf presence on Cool Mint and Spearmint. On! leans the same way.

Even brands that tried to branch out often ended up hedging back toward familiar menthol territory because that’s what the category trained people to expect.

I’ve been through several of the flavors at this point and the precision is what stands out.

Former smokers or current heavy vapers transitioning to pouches will probably start here and not feel like they’re missing anything.

Neither strength has the kick of some Scandinavian-style strong pouches (which can push 16-20mg), but that’s appropriate for this product. Drifters is built around flavor first, and aggressive nicotine levels can drown out subtle tropical notes. The balance ALP landed on works.

How Drifters Compares to Standard ALP and ZYN

I’ve been using standard ALP pouches alongside FRE as my main pouch rotation for a while now.

Both sit ahead of ZYN for me on flavor and value. ZYN has the shelf presence and the name recognition but the actual pouch experience has never matched the price premium, and the flavor range is still heavily mint-biased.

The 20-pouches-per-can count matters more than it might seem. ZYN runs 15. That’s a real difference in value when you’re buying regularly.

Standard ALP remains my go-to for general use. It’s consistent and honest. But Drifters is what I reach for when I actually want to enjoy the experience rather than just satisfy a craving.

The flavor work here is more deliberate, and the tropical profiles make it feel like a different product category entirely compared to whatever mint variant ZYN is pushing this month.

ALP Drifters is a genuinely welcome addition to an already very awesome lineup of pouches, over at ALP. Adding in twelve tropical flavors, a moister fast-release format, and a higher tier of nicotine (12mg), while keeping the moisture on point is no mean feat, but ALP has nailed it.

And then we come to the value for money factor: ALP includes 20 pouches per can and its RRP makes ZYN’s 15-count tins look hard to justify.
