The SMOK Nord might be getting on a bit but it is still a VERY popular vape. In fact, next to the SMOK NOVO, it is one of SMOK’s most popular products.

And this applies to the slightly newer SMOK Nord 2 as well – people really love these pod vapes!

But when it comes to coils for the SMOK Nord what are your best options?

SMOK Nord Coils

First, let’s take a look at ALL the coil options currently available for the SMOK Nord:

0.6ohm Mesh Coil (DTL)
1.4ohm Coil (MTL)
1.4ohm Ceramic (MTL)

Best SMOK Nord Coils

You have three distinct options – Mesh, Regular or Ceramic – when it comes to coils for the SMOK Nord.

But which is the best?

As someone that used a SMOK Nord for a solid 12-18 months, I have some pretty strong opinions on what the best coils for the SMOK Nord are.

I’ve listed all my current recommendations for the best SMOK Nord coils below (in order; so the worst of the lot is listed last).

Keep in mind, I probably used a few hundred of these coils in my time with the Nord, so these results are based on hundreds of hours’ worth of usage.

1.) SMOK Nord 0.6ohm Mesh Coil (DTL)

If you want the maximum flavor and best overall performance from your SMOK Nord, you’ll want to go with the 0.6ohm Mesh Coil (DTL).

Out of all of SMOK’s Nord coils, this one – over a period of 12 months – was the most consistent with respect to lifespan, flavor, and reliability.

It is designed for DTL, although it is a very restricted lung hit, not the type you get on a vape tank, but it will happily run Nic Salts juice and other types like slightly higher PG vape juice.

If you want care-free vaping, this is the coil option to go with.

2.) SMOK Nord 1.4ohm Coil (MTL)

Because the SMOK Nord is a pod vape and, because most pod vapes and pod vape users like to MTL vape, the 1.4ohm Coil (MTL) is an obvious choice to run in the SMOK Nord.

During my time with the Nord, I probably used the 1.4ohm Coil (MTL) around 75% of the time.

Like the 0.6ohm Mesh Coil (DTL), it is reliable, has a very impressive lifespan, and it delivers excellent flavor, as well as a pitch perfect MTL draw.

If you want to MTL vape on your Nord, this is the coil you should use.

3.) SMOK Nord 1.4ohm Ceramic (MTL)

The other MTL coil option in the SMOK Nord range is the 1.4ohm Ceramic (MTL). Here’s a word of advice: avoid this one LIKE THE PLAGUE.

I tried and persisted with multiple packs of these coils, chasing the promise of improved flavor, and all I got was dry hits.

To say this coil was bad would be offensive; it is worse than bad. I think I spent around $60 on these coils over the course of a year and not a single one of them EVER worked.

And when they did, the flavor was muted and tasteless.

For this reason, if you want to use nic salts vape juice – and you want to use high-strength stuff – I’d stick to the MTL 1.4ohm coil head.

Generally, I prefer the 0.6ohm mesh coils for the SMOK Nord – they deliver better flavor.

Best SMOK Nord Coil For Flavor

I’ve used all of SMOK’s standard coils for the Nord and my absolute favorite, after more than two years of using the device, is the 0.6ohm mesh coils.

The 0.6ohm mesh coils deliver the best flavor, they last the longest, and you can use both 50/50 and nic salts vape juice in them.
Oddly, I find the MTL coils the worst when it comes to flavor, notably the Ceramic ones – for some reason they just don’t seem to perform. And I’ve been through about 100 of them in my time.
With the standard 1.4ohm MTL coil for the SMOK Nord, however, I get plenty of flavor and great longevity – anywhere from 7 to 12 days normally.

Longest Lasting SMOK Nord Coil

I’ve been using the SMOK Nord, on and off, since around 2019 and in that time I have probably gone through hundreds of coils. As noted earlier, I have never had much luck with SMOK’s ceramic coils for the Nord – I just can’t seem to get them to play ball.

The ceramic SMOK Nord coils seem to fail a lot quicker than the standard coil and the mesh coil. Whether this is down to SMOK’s notorious QC issues or just my own bad luck remains to be seen. I am of the opinion, however, that it is something to do with how SMOK designs the coil.

For overall longevity, the coil that lasts the longest – in my experience – is either the 0.6ohm mesh coil or the standard 1.4ohm MTL coil. These are the coils I use most often and they are always usually pretty consistent with respect to performance and how long they last.

Best case scenario? You’re looking at 8-12 days between a change. If you get a dud batch, and this does happen, you’re looking at hours. And this sucks. Make sure you keep your receipts and ALWAYS pursue a refund when this happens.

Because when you’re dealing with SMOK coils, even its SMOK Nord coils, you do get the occasional dud batch. In my time with the device, I think I’ve had maybe seven or eight dud batches of SMOK Nord coils.

Best SMOK Nord Coil – Let’s Recap…

If you want to use high-strength nic salts in your SMOK Nord, anything above 35MG, stick with the 1.4ohm standard coil.

If you’re going to use 50/50 vape juice or nic salts juice that is 25MG in strength or lower, you’re fine with the 0.6ohm mesh coil.

I would advise you to AVOID the ceramic SMOK Nord coil like the plague; it is the worst for flavor, quality control, and performance.

Bottom line? Whatever you are vaping with the SMOK Nord, stick with the standard 1.4ohm coil and the 0.6ohm mesh coil and you shouldn’t run into too many issues.
