UWELL’s Caliburn series needs no introduction, it’s been one of the best-selling series of pod vapes since, well… pod vapes became a thing.

The Lost Vape Centaurus E40 Max is pitched as a much more stylish affair; its design is boxier, similar to vape mods of old (just a lot smaller), and it packs in plenty of power. 

But as they say: the devil’s in the details which in this case means the specs, features and capabilities, so let’s unpack which of these pod vapes has more to offer…

Design and Build Quality

Design is subjective. What you like, I may not. With pod vapes, design is always key – it affects things like battery life, performance, and usability. 

These two pods could not be any more different if they tried. One, the UWELL Caliburn G3 Pro, is a traditional pen vape-style pod system, whereas the Lost Vape is more like a hybrid design, pulling together elements of vape mods and pod vapes. 

Me? I like my pods nice and compact, so I’d be inclined to go with the UWELL in this context, but doing so would mean I lose out on some battery performance. 

As with most things pod vape-related, the svelter something is, the worse the battery life. But that’s a hill I’m willing to die on. Plus, with USB C fast-charging, you can top up the Caliburn G3 Pro quickly too. 

The Lost Vape Centaurus E40 Max is definitely a looker, though. If you’re looking to turn heads and want something with a little more design pizzazz, the Lost Vape Centaurus E40 Max is going to more than fit the bill.

Battery and Power

As noted earlier, when you go compact and slim, you lose the opportunity to run larger batteries. And this is clearly evident here: the Centaurus E40 Max’s battery is nearly double the size of the Caliburn G3 Pro. 

That is a big difference, and you will notice it when you use it. Having used both side by side, the Centaurus E40 Max runs rings around the Caliburn in this context, lasting a solid several hours longer between charges. 

If you value battery life, the Centaurus E40 Max is the one to go for.

Vaping Experience

The Caliburn is designed for simplicity. It does MTL, and it does it very well, while the Lost Vape Centaurus E40 Max is designed for tinkering with its RBA compatibility and flexible coil options. 

If you prefer to mix things up, build your own coils, and experiment with different types of draws, the Lost Vape Centaurus E40 Max has the Caliburn G3 Pro whipped – it’s just a much more complex system. 

For simplicity, the Caliburn G3 Pro is the one to go for. It’s a pod vape that does bangin’ MTL draws. If that’s all you want or need, the Caliburn G3 Pro is the one to get – it’s simple, easy to use, and no way near as complicated as the Lost Vape.

Final Thoughts

Both of these vapes are great. I had a blast testing both. The UWELL Caliburn G3 Pro did have better coil performance and flavor, however, which, for me, is a significant win. 

Neither is as good as the Vaporesso XROS Pro in the coil performance department; that thing is a MONSTER for flavor and longevity and is essentially unbeatable at this stage of the game. 

The Lost Vape Centaurus E40 Max is a great choice if you like to build your own coils. You don’t have to, of course, but the option is there with this pod vape. The Caliburn G3 Pro does not support RBA. 

The Centaurus E40 Max also runs rings around the Caliburn G3 Pro in the battery performance stakes too. But, and this is important, its coils aren’t quite as good as UWELL’s. It’s not a massive deficit, but I did tend to get around 7-10 days more from my Caliburn coils. 

My advice? If you want simplicity and a great MTL vape, go with the UWELL Caliburn G3 Pro. Like the XROS 4 and XROS Pro, it is a straight-forward pod vape that does all the core stuff great (although, it’s not quite as good as the XROS Pro, in my opinion). 

Like to tinker, go with the Lost Vape Centaurus E40 Max. With its coil options and RBA system, you can tinker with how it vapes until your heart’s content. It also holds more juice and has a bigger battery.
