To say this thing was hyped would be the understatement of the century; people have been clambering over themselves to get their hands on this thing since it launched.

And the reason? Simple: 

• It’s a PuffCo product, so you’ve got the brand appeal and all the usual benefits you get with PuffCo dab products. 
• It’s affordable (prices start in and around $130) which makes it a great option for newbies and first timers. And it means we can now all but forget about the totally forgettable PuffCo Plus.
• It’s ultra-portable (unlike the Peak, and significantly more so than the Proxy), so you can dab on the go with a nice slice of stealth. 

But does the Pivot live up to the hype? Here’s everything you need to know about what it can and cannot do, as well as how it compares to PuffCo’s other dab rigs…

What Sets the PuffCo Pivot Apart?

Dab pens ain’t new; they’ve been around forever. But this dab pen? It’s here to switch up the game, add in some new and novel features, and bring some much-needed performance to the dab pen market. 

The biggest thing it’s bringing to the party? For me, it’s PuffCo’s 3D Chamber Technology.  

Unlike your typical dab pen that just heats from the bottom, the Pivot’s 3D Chamber heats from the sidewalls.

This isn’t just a cool-sounding upgrade—it makes a real difference.

By increasing the surface area that gets hot, it delivers smoother, richer hits with less wastage. And that’s the name of the game, right?

The overall portability of the device is another huge win because you’re getting access to e-rig-grade specs and features inside a device that’ll fit literally anywhere. As for dimensions, you’re looking at 15 × 15 × 10 cm and it weighs just 500g.

Basically, it’s designed to be pocket-sized. And it is. But there’s still some heft to it that gives it that weight you want; no one wants a dab pen that feels flimsy, like it will snap.

But for me, the real kicker here is this: it might be small, but it performs like a proper balls-to-the-wall E-Rig with its advanced heating tech and its flavor production.

Is the PuffCo Pivot good for beginners? Yes. I think this is the main pitch of the product. It uses a single button for power and it is insanely simple to set up.

The PAX ERA is probably easier to use, but the Pivot runs rings around the ERA in every conceivable fashion – from power to battery life to versatility.

It even has four heat settings, each one color-coded, so finding the right temperature is as simple as tapping the button. And if you want more clouds and more flavor, there’s a handy Boost Mode available – think of it like a turbocharger in your car.

Loads of people were majorly hyped about the Pivot prior to its release. The reason? Leaks and rumors online painted a rather incredible story of what they device would be like – one that included insane specs and E-Rig-level performance and capabilities. 

Now, some of the more, let’s say, salacious, rumors were a bit off the mark. But the meat and potatoes were all there: the Pivot packs in a tonne of high-end tech and performance in a package that isn’t too expensive at all. 

Here’s all of the PuffCo Pivot’s standout features, the stuff that I think most people will appreciate the most: 

• Four Color-Coded Heat Settings: Whether you’re into light, flavorful hits or thick clouds, the Pivot has a temperature setting for you. Each setting is color-coded, so there’s no guesswork involved. Just tap and go.
• USB-C Charging: Say goodbye to slow recharges. The Pivot’s USB-C battery doesn’t just charge faster; it holds enough juice for up to 15 dabs on a full charge. Perfect for those extended sessions or days when you’re on the move.
• Real-Time Temperature Control: PuffCo’s included a smart algorithm that keeps the temperature steady throughout your session, no matter the setting. This means consistent hits from start to finish—none of that annoying “it starts great, then fades” experience.
• Integrated Air Path and Flow Filter: This one’s all about smoother, cooler vapor. The Pivot’s air path and flow filter work together to ensure that each hit is as smooth as it can be. It’s a small detail, but it makes a huge difference in overall experience.
• Modular Design: PuffCo knows that every dabber has their preferences. That’s why the Pivot works perfectly as a stand-alone device but also offers the flexibility to connect to a glass rig with the optional Pivot Glass Adapter. It’s great to have the option to switch things up.

PuffCo products aren’t the cheapest. They’re bloody good though, so most people don’t mind paying a little extra – myself included. 

The Pivot slots into its current line-up of dab rigs really nicely, however, adding in a much-needed “affordable” option below the PuffCo Proxy. 

As it stands, the PuffCo Peak Pro is the flagship model, as of right now, followed by the PuffCo Proxy, and finally, bringing up the rear, we have the PuffCo Pivot – the entry-level vaporizer.

The Pivot is PuffCo’s mass-market product, the one aimed at beginners and newbies. Think of it as a stepping stone into not just the world of dabbing, but also PuffCo’s wider ecosystem. 

You might start with the Pivot and then, six months later, graduate to the Peak Pro. 

Is it as good as the Peak Pro or the Proxy? No – not even close. But it costs less and it serves a different purpose. The Peak Pro is NOT portable, and the Proxy, while much-more portable than the Peak, is still rather bulky. 

Both are expensive, too. But the Pivot? It’s simple to use, portable, and it comes with a damn approachable price tag. 

Why 3D Chamber Technology Is Notable

One of the biggest selling points of the PuffCo Pivot is its 3D Chamber Technology—and trust me, this isn’t just a gimmick.

Traditional dab pens often rely on bottom-only heating, which can lead to uneven vaporization and wasted concentrate.

The Pivot’s 3D Chamber, though, heats from the sidewalls and it supports built in real-time temperature control which stops dry hits and keeps things nice and consistent.

And why is this better? I hear you ask.

Sidewall heating means a more even distribution of heat across your concentrates and, in turn, more consistent, flavorful hits.

Another perk? It’s got on-demand heating which means It only activates when you inhale. And while that might not sound so fancy at first, trust me: it will save you money and battery within the first few weeks of using it.

Accidentally firing your dab pen can waste an entire load of concentrate. That’s no bueno. On-demand heating solves this and it also makes the device much safer for traveling with too.

I’ve only had my Pivot for a few days but one of the features I’m using the most is its quick-release chamber which lets you swap in pre-loaded chambers without in a cinch.

Again, it’s nothing fancy but it is a properly useful design element that makes using the device more efficient. And I know it’s a good feature because I keep trying to do it on my other dab pens.

Bottom line? PuffCo’s 3D Chamber is basically what you’re paying for here – that and its built-in temperature control. In my brief time with the Pivot, I’d say it is well worth paying for too. The net result of it in action makes the Pivot hit like an e-rig (or damn close) with what I reckon is market-leading consistency (in the dab pen arena).

I also really, really like the quick-release chamber design.
