If you’re after a kick-ass, high wattage vape mod you’re in the right place – there are tons of really good box mod options right now. But what are the best vape mods for clouds and value for money?
If you’re first mod is starting to feel a little underpowered and you’re after something with a little more kick, you’re in the right place. And your timing is impeccable.
2018’s vape mod market is brilliant; never before has there been such a wide-ranging choice of excellent hardware available at super-reasonable prices.
Back in the day, high-wattage vape mods were expensive. Like phones and their storage options, the higher the wattage, the pricer the mod.
Those days in the vape market are now well and truly over, though you can easily pay three figures for a vape mod – but in this context, you’re paying for technology (a DNA chip, for instance) and build materials (hand-treated resin).
Nowadays you can pick up a proper bangin’ mod for less than $50-$60. And for you, me, and pretty much everyone you know, these types of vape mods will be more than adequate.
I’m going to recommend three vape mods at the end of the post, three high wattage mods that offer excellent design, excellent performance, and great battery life.
But, before we get to them, I just want to cover off a couple of things first…
Do You Really Need A 250W Box Mod?
Think about it: what’s the highest wattage you’ve ever vaped at? I’ve vaped for years and I’ve never gone above 120W.
The reason? It’s threefold:
1) You burn through E Juice too quickly.
2) It DESTROYS your battery life
3) The vapor will be hotter than the sun
Bottomline: there’s no point paying extra for wattages and/or technology that you’re never going to use.
However, I would always advise vapers to get a mod with at least 150W of power.
If you want to run larger builds in your RDAs later on, or you get a super-power sub ohm tank, you will need 150W.
Think is… most mods are equipped with a max output of 200W, so whatever you go for, chances are you still have plenty of grunt left under the bonnet should you need it.
What Type of Vape Tank Are You Using?
Do you use sub-ohm tanks or rebuildable tanks? Maybe, like me, you use both interchangeably?
Either way, you’ll want a mod that can handle all types of tanks.
The three mods I have picked, which are listed at the end of this article, were chosen because they are great all-round vape mods, regardless of whether you’re using RDAs, RTAs, or sub-ohm vape tanks.
Versatility is KEY here. You want a vape mod that can do high wattages but can also do TC vaping and low power vaping too.
If TC vaping is your thing, you’re going to need to get either a DNA mod or a YiHi one – these are the gold standard (but they’re pricey).
If you’re just into wattage mode vaping, this is how I vape 100% of the time, you needn’t worry about TC accuracy or fancy bells and whistles like Curve Settings and Bypass Mode.
Batteries – You Gonna Need A Few of Them (At Least)
If you’re wanting to do some serious high-wattage vaping, you’re going to need a vape mod with exceptional battery life – otherwise, it just becomes a pain in the ass.
And high wattage vape mod worth its salt will rock either three or four 18650 cells (these are the best vape mods for battery life).
The reason? High power vaping is battery intensive, so you need more batteries. Pretty simple, really.
This means you’ll need a large, external 18650 charger as well as three or four cells – ideally, you’d have six to eight in order to avoid any downtime.
If you want to charge a lot of batteries at once, this charger is very good.
This way you can have 3/4 on charge while you’re using 3/4 in your mod. Once those cells have died, you pop in a fresh set and charge up the dead ones.
I use AMPKING cells, as they’re specifically designed for vaping.
They ain’t cheap, but they’re very reliable and are safer than cheaper options.
I suggest you stock up on these if you’re going to be doing a lot of cloud chasing with your mod.
OK… So, What Are The Best High Wattage Vape Mods?
Taking all of the above considerations, I have selected three mods that I feel fit and fill every criterion – battery life, design, performance, and value for money.
1) Wismec Reuleaux RX GEN3 300W – Great Battery, Excellent Value For Money
If you asked me which to go for, the Wismec Reuleaux RX GEN3 300W would 100% get my vote.
I use this mod most days and I love the way it looks and performs. It’s also priced very competitively.
You have 300W of power, three 18650 cells, and a beautifully designed chassis that really looks the business.
It also has a full TC suite and will run vape tanks and rebuildable tanks without issue.

VaporDNA | $56.99 (Inc. Gnome Tank)
2) iJoy CAPTAIN PD270 – Dual-20700 Cells + Tons of Power
The iJoy CAPTAIN PD270 runs dual-20700 cells and this means you get INSANE battery life, even if you’re vaping at super-high wattages.
The design is very slick, and it rocks plenty of vaping modes.
I do prefer the design of the RX GEN3, but beauty always resides in the eye of the beholder.
You will need to buy some 20700 cells for it, again, use AMPKING, but once you have these you’re good to go with 1.5 to 2 days of vaping in-between charges.

3) SMOK GX2/4 350W TC Mod – It Runs FOUR 18650 Cells
The beast. This thing is a freakin’ monster. If it was a car, it’d be one that went 250MPH and had a 5-liter V12 engine in it.
If you want the absolute best in class battery life, as well as support for 350W, the SMOK GX2/4 350W TC Mod is the one to go for – nothing else comes close.
Also: if you don’t want to run four 18650 cells, you can swap the back panel and run it in dual-18650 mode.
You have all the usual bells and whistles too, things like TC and a myriad of vaping modes, as well as SMOK’s decent software to play with.
