What Is The Best Box Mods You Can Buy? Below is a breakdown of ALL the best box mod devices VapeBeat tested throughout 2017 [This List is UPDATED Regularly]
Only the best of the best box mods make it onto this A-List of box mods. And, they only get on here once they’ve been fully tested by our team of reviewers.
One of the main things to consider when buying a powerful box-mod is the price; it can vary greatly depending on the brand and technology inside it.
For instance, the Reuleaux Rx200 costs around $60, while the DNA 200-powered variant costs almost $100 more at $159 — and if you’re on a budget this makes a difference.

The Best Box Mods and Vape Mods Include:
Wotofo Stentorian Basilisk 200W Box Mod
Resin-colored mods are all the range right now, and the Wotofo Stentorian Basilisk 200W Box Mod is easily one of my personal favourites right now.
Like all my favourite mods, the Wotofo Stentorian Basilisk 200W Box Mod is a stripped-down setup that will deliver up to 200W of power.
Available in the five color options, the Wotofo Stentorian Basilisk 200W Box Mod features a standard power mode, for simple, straight-up vaping, or, if you fancy something a little more fancy, a Do It Yourself Mode, where you can tinker with all the settings.
The Wotofo Stentorian Basilisk 200W Box Mod features a spring-loaded 510, meaning it’ll run pretty much whatever you stick on top of it. I love the overall styling and finish of this mod; it just exudes premium appeal and definitely looks like it costs more than it does.
Here’s a breakdown of the Wotofo Stentorian Basilisk 200W Box Mod’s key specs and features:
- Chip: Stentorian chip

Innokin BIGBOX Atlas 200W Box Mod – A Beautiful-Looking Mod
If you’re a fan of Innokin’s latest run of hardware, then you’re going to love the Innokin BIGBOX Atlas 200W. First and foremost, this mod looks 100% BAD ASS decked out in a beautifully eye-catching resin coating that really pops.
The honeycomb array used in the design of mod means you get plenty of grip and also a very engaging overall aesthetic. With support for up to 200W of power, as well as a full suite of TC vaping options, the Innokin BIGBOX Atlas 200W is ready for any style of vaping.
It runs on two 18650 cells and packs in plenty of safety features. But for me, I just love the way the Innokin BIGBOX Atlas 200W looks in the flesh. Especially the red model; it’s just so cool-looking. I like the detailing on the fire key, the simple nature of how it works, and the fact that it’s built to be robust, meaning it can take a lick and keep on ticking.
The Innokin BIGBOX Atlas 200W looks like a $200 mod, but Innokin, always keen ensure value for money, is retailing it for under $100. For that price, the Innokin BIGBOX Atlas 200W is definitely one of the best-looking setups around right now. Couple this with its array of features and excellent performance and you’re looking at one hell of a setup.
You Can Pick Up The Innokin BIGBOX Atlas 200W Via VaporDNA For $95.95 – Down From $105.95
Wismec Reuleaux RX GEN3 – The Best Three-Cell Mod Around
The Wismec Reuleaux RX GEN3 is by far one of my favourite mid-range mods of the entire year. Why? Simple: it runs three cells, which means insane battery life, it looks awesome, and it is also extremely portable.
Seriously, when you unbox this mod you will seriously not believe that it holds three 18650 cells. It’s smaller than the RX2/3 and pretty much any other three cell mod around right now and on top of this is looks beautiful, especially if you’re a fan of that classic Reuleaux design language as we are.
You have a beautiful OLED display to work with, simple battery door access, and plenty of vaping modes, as well as the ability to load up pre-saved profiles for different tanks and/or builds. And best of all? The price – the Wismec Reuleaux RX GEN3 is dirt cheap for what it offers, which is why it is easily one of my favourite mods of the year.
You Can Pick Up The Wismec Reuleaux RX GEN3 via DirectVapor For $56.95 (FREE SHIPPING)
ASMODUS Minikin Reborn 168W Mod
The original ASMODUS Minikin was a delight to use and behold, but its successor model, the ASMODUS Minikin Reborn, takes things several steps further, adding in a better design, more power, and new features.
This is also the mod favoured by Queen of Vapes, as you can see in our interview with her, and it really is a great setup, with 168W of power under the hood, a gorgeous OLED display, and eye-catching design (especially if you go for the orange model).
The ASMODUS Minikin Reborn runs on the GX-168-HT chip and, like the GENE chip, this is a fairly impressive setup. It will ensure you’re vaping safely but also features handy additional settings like its hyperpower saving mode, which make this 2-cell mod run like a 3-cell mod.
I am a huge fan of this mod, though it is tricky to find in stores in the US. If you’re in the UK, however, you can pick one up via UKECIG STORE for £59.99.
You Can Pick The ASMODUS Minikin Reborn 168W Mod Up Via FLAWLESS VAPE For $55 – Down From $79.95
Think Vape DNA Mods – DNA Mods For A Bit Less
If you’re in the market for a DNA mod, and you have a couple of hundred bucks laying around, Think Vape is definitely worth a look. I only stumbled across these guys recently but was very impressed by what I found.
The produce an entire line of DNA-powered mods, covering off EVOLV’s DNA 200, DNA 250, and DNA 75 range of chipsets. And if you don’t know EVOLV’s DNA chipset, well, it’s one of the best in the game right now (this is why DNA mods are pricey).
All DNA mods offer unparalleled safety features, as well as insanely accurate power output and control. They also run Escribe software, which lets you tailor your vaping experience from your PC.
My personal favourite of the company’s current lineup of mods is the Think Vape Finder 250, purely because it runs the latest version of EVOLV’s DNA chipset and also for the fact the mod looks bloody stunning (especially in red).
If you’re after something not-quite-as-powerful and a smidge cheaper, you’ll want to be looking at the MKL 200 or the Finder 75, which offers all the benefits of EVOLV’s DNA chipset just without the super-high-end power output.

VooPoo ALPHA ONE 222W Mod – Amazing Design, Excellent Performance
The VooPoo DRAG is easily one of my favorite mods of all time. The design, the GENE chip, the way it hits – everything about the DRAG just rocked.
But there is a new sheriff in town and he goes by the name of the VooPoo ALPHA ONE 222W Mod. This mod carry’s VooPoo’s excellent GENE chip, which is fast becoming on of my favorite, and it features, once again, some truly killer design attributes.
I mean, just LOOK at it…
The VooPoo ALPHA ONE 222W Mod is a potent setup as well, with built-in support for TC vaping, as well as a maximum of 222W in power mode.
The star of the show, though, as always, it that GENE chip, which, like EVOLV’s DNA, can claim around 95% accuracy for power delivery. That is exceptional. And the GENE chip also ensures the VooPoo ALPHA ONE 222W Mod hits like a goddamn freight train as well.
But perhaps the best thing about VooPoo’s products is how they’re priced – you get ALL that design and ALL that technology for just $94.99. Or, around $100 cheaper than most DNA or YiHi-powered mods and for my money, that’s one hell of a bargain.
You Can Pick Up The Alpha One via VaporDNA For $94.99 – DOWN From $119.99
Best Box Mod: VooPoo DRAG 157W Box Mod
Yep, the name is stupid. But the VooPoo DRAG 157W Box Mod is easily one of the best mods I have tested in 2017 – you can read my review right here.
Not only does it look stunning, but it also features the GENE chipset, which brings with it rapid ramp-up time, massive amounts of firing power, and consistently solid vaping experiences.
The mod itself is honed from ultra-premium build materials and it the DRAG logo you see on the site is done with lasers. It’s weighty, premium, and it has a huge presence – tons of people have stopped to ask me about it.
VooPoo DRAG 157W Box Mod Specs
- Power: 5-157W
- Battery: 2 x 18650 (balance charging)
- Size: 90 x 54 x 24mm
- Colour: Black with white / Black with red
- Lowest Resistance in Power mode: 0.05Ω
- Lowest Resistance in TC mode: 0.05Ω
- New function: Super Mode and Power
- compensation mode.
- TC MODE: SS, NI, TI, NC, TCR, CCR
- Firmware Upgradable
- Temp Range 100-315 C
But perhaps the best thing about the VooPoo DRAG 157W Box Mod is its price – you can pick one of these exceptional mods up for around half the price of a DNA or YiHi mod. And that is very impressive.
The VooPoo DRAG is Available Right Now For Just $55.99 (Down From $64.00) Via VaporDNA
Best Box Mod: SX Mini G Class 200W – YiHi-powered MADNESS
Where do I start with this box mod? Not only does it look like something dreamt up inside a steam punk-themed wet dream, but it also features the awesome YiHi SX550J chipset, which is one of the best in the business.
The SX Mini G Class 200W Box Mod has many, many USPs. But for me, the really big one – aside from its chipset – is the sheer scale of its design. The SX Mini G Class 200W Box Mod looks like a million bucks.
It is easily one of the most visually arresting mods I have ever seen. People will stop you on the street when you’re using this thing. It is completely unique in the vape space right now, and for this reason is in huge demand.
Chuck in its market-leading performance, stunning OLED display and the ability to control the menus with a joystick, as well as built-in Bluetooth, so you can connect with Android and iOS, and you have one hell of a proposition.
The SX Mini G Class 200W Box Mod will also run any tank you attach to it in pretty much any mode, including Pass Through and TC. Next to EVOLV’s DNA and Vaporesso’s OMNI board, this is about as good as it gets when it comes to vaping technology.
The SX Mini G Class 200W Box Mod runs on 2×18650 batteries and is basically one of the best-looking and best-performing mods on the market right now.
Best Box Mod: Wismec Predator 228W TC Mod
When it comes to aggressively priced mods, it is very hard not to like Wismec. The company has made itself one of the most solid, most visible brands in the vape scene over the past few years, following a slew of awesome releases.
The Wismec Predator 228 is the latest and, boy, is this a good mod. VapeBeat’s Rob Goodwin gave it 10/10 in his review, which you can read in full here – Wismec Predator 228 Review: A Brilliant Mod.
The reason for this outstanding score is threefold: 1) the design and features of this device are excellent, 2) it features fast charging via USB, so you can charge it from dead to almost full in under an hour, and 3) the price; at just $49, it serves up some truly excellent value for money.
Oh, and if you buy an accessory for it, you can use it as a power bank to charge your smartphone and tablet. Not too shabby.
It is this combination of features, an attention to design and overall performance, that make the Wismec Predator 228 one of the best value mods on the planet right now.
You Can Pick Up The Exceptional Wismec Predator 228 From Vapor4Life For The Awesome Price of $49.99
Best Box Mod: HCIGAR VT250 TC Mod: A Super Potent DNA 250 Mod
If you’re after a mod that is one the bleeding-edge of what’s going on in the vaping world, then you need to check out the HCIGAR VT250 which runs EVOLV’s brand new(ish) DNA250 chipset.
The design of the mod is pretty straight-up; it’s small enough to use in one hand comfortably, features well-positioned, tactile buttons with enough room inside it for three 18650 batteries.
Obviously, the big thing here is the DNA 250 chipset which is one of the most advanced vaping chips on the planet. Chuck in the excellent build materials this thing is honed from and you have one hell of a proposition.
It features a raft of improvements over its predecessor, notably the ability to handle more power, as well as multiple vaping modes and, of course, the wonderful Escribe software for your PC.
Basically, this mod is 100% badass. It really is easily one of the best on this list. Bar none.
Where’s the best place to buy one?
GearBear has some pretty epic deals on the HCIGAR VT250 TC Mod, so if you fancy paying WAY BELOW the market value ($100 to $130) for this mod I would 100% check out GearBest.
Best Box Mod: SMOK GX350 350W Mod: Insane, Utterly Mad Power!
If the SMOK Alien 220W wasn’t enough for you, then, well… you got problems! Fortunately, though, SMOK has you covered with the SMOK GX350 which, as the name suggests, can handle up 350W of power.
That is 130W more than the Alien 220W, meaning you will be able to push the SMOK TFV8 tank, the tank this mod comes with, to its absolute limits. Personally, I’d never vape this high. But that’s just me; I’m a wimp.
The SMOK GX350 350W runs four 18650 cells, meaning ALL DAY battery life. You will need four cells as well if you plan on running the SMOK GX350 350W at higher temperatures too, as this is very taxing on battery life, hence the inclusion of several cells.
Despite this, the SMOK GX350 350W is still a relatively compact mod. It’s a lot smaller than the Reuleaux RX300 and it is styled beautifully; it looks just like the Alien, only slightly more squat.
This one’s for SERIOUS cloud chasers, though, so be warned. Most of you will almost certainly be more than happy with the Alien 220W. Also, if you get this mod from DirectVapor, they’ll throw in the awesome SMOK TFV8 sub-ohm tank for free. Not too shabby.

Best Box Mod: The Wismec Reuleaux RX300 – A Beast of The Most EPIC Proportions
No one ever said the Wismec Reuleaux RX200 was too small. No one ever said it needed space for another TWO batteries. But what the hell: most people don’t know what they want until its right there in front of them.
The Wismec Reuleaux RX300 is here and it is easily one of the most monstrous mods we have ever encountered. It’s big – huge, in fact – and because it can now accommodate four batteries, you’ll be vaping for longer and longer between charges.
The only real downside to this is that you’ll have to buy more batteries and likely jeans with bigger pockets as this mod has quite the footprint.
But if vaping’s your thang, money’s always gonna play second fiddle to acquiring the best gear in the business. And the new Wismec Reuleaux RX300 is definitely one of the best mods in the business.
If you’re in the UK and you want to get your’s for A LOT less, you need to go to GearBeat. They’re offering the Reuleaux RX300 for just £44 – UK Ecig Store, by comparison, is selling the same mod for almost £100.
Key New Features
- 300W Max Output
- New Interface (Way More Information On Display)
- Beautiful New Design
- 0.96inch OLED screen
- Preheat Function
- Upgradable Firmware
- Changeable Stickers for Decoration

Best Box Mods: Lost Vape Triade DNA250 TC Vape MOD
EVOLV’s DNA 200 chipset is world-renowned as the best in the business. But now EVOLV is back with its next-generation version, the DNA 250, which brings more power, more features and even more control over your vaping than its predecessor.
The Lost Vape Triade DNA250 is a beautiful looking, premium mod that performs like it has a nuclear reactor inside it. If you can handle the price, the Lost Vape Triade DNA250 is pretty much untouchable in terms of overall looks and performance.
There are plenty of DNA 250 mods around at the moment, but a scant few can hold a candle to just how good-looking this one is – pictures DO NOT do it justice.
And if that wasn’t enough the Lost Vape Triade DNA250 features support for up to three battery cells, which means truly EPIC battery performance.
